Hugh Jackman On His Return As Wolverine In X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

Jackman looks ahead to what will be his seventh appearance as Wolverine in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days Of Future Past, saying that the script is fantastic and that he first heard of the project when Matthew Vaughn was on board to direct.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Hugh Jackman talks about returning as Wolverine in next summer's X-Men: Days Of Future Past. The Bryan Singer-directed ensemble, inspired by the classic X-Men comic book storyline of the same name, will mark the Oscar nominee's seventh appearance as Logan (counting his excellent cameo in First Class). He will next be seen as the character in July 26th's The Wolverine, and Jackman jokingly recalls first hearing about the idea when he was filming the Japanese noir. "I must admit I was starting to see a life free of steamed chicken breasts. They told me the idea and, at the time, it was Matthew Vaughn [directing]. Instantly, I knew it was a winner. It just felt like everything was coming full circle. However, I must admit my stomach and my mind were like, ‘Oh no.’"

Jackman then confirms that he has finally read the script, saying that "It’s really really fantastic," and looks back on how the X-Men franchise catapulted his career. He then expresses his excitement in reuniting with many of the original trilogy's stars. "I owe, in a way, everything to Bryan. The first film I did in America was X-Men. Wolverine is a character I’ve loved playing and I can’t believe it’s going to be my seventh time playing it. It just blows me away. It not only feels like the right kind of project, it actually is so exciting that we’ll all be back together again. I don’t want to give away too much but I’m really excited not only to reunite with all those great actors but also to work with some of the other ones."

X-Men: Days Of Future Past stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Ellen Page, Halle Berry, Peter Dinklage, Anna Paquin and Shawn Ashmore. The film is set to hit theaters July 18th, 2014.

A lot is really riding on this X-Men film more than any other. Bringing back old casts, new casts, Peter Dinklage, Sirs Mckellan and Stewart, Singer better not [frick] this up.

The Wolverine and XM:DOTFP are Fox last chance to redeem themselves in the eyes of the X-Men fans.
XM:FC wasn't perfect but it was a good way to go.
Still, even if The Wolverine will rock, and XM:DOTFP will be the greatest movie in a comicbooksmovies history - there will be some fans shouting on the streets to bring the rights back to Marvel.

It's inevitable. Either they want to reboot the whole franchise, or simply demand it to be more close to the source material and be a part of Marvel Universe.

For the first time, I actually agree with @Gusto (Damn, :P). He's gotta say "Bub" more than how he has in previous X-Men films.

But besides that, I again have to give Mr. Jackman kudos and much respect for the dedication, commitment, and love for Wolverine. It's just amazing. So I'll be looking forward to seeing him (and among a few other talented actors) in DoFP.

@lvcl

i heard that Fox was cutting down the budget for the first X-Men movie.
So little Bryan and big Hugh went on this crazy idea (your picture above) in case there isn't any money left for special effects.

Good thing they kinda sort it out.

Please don't let him have a big role.
I want it as small as possible.

I loved FC because it wasn't all about Wolverine.

Hugh Jackman's cool, but I'd like to see Stephen Dorff in the role if a reboot is on the horizon.

@ CherryBomb

I don't know. If JLaw got that Academy Award/Golden Globe win, it might be all about Mystique for the sequel.

By the way, people, check out my new fancast for Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt.
