Mark Margolis Offers Details On His Role In Darren Aronofsky's NOAH

Speaking with Empire Online, Breaking Bad actor Mark Margolis talks about reuniting with Darren Aronofsky on his anticipated Biblical epic Noah that's also based on the Black Swan director's graphic novel. "I play a 12-foot god," Margolis told the site, "[and] most of my character will be created through CGI." The actor plays a fallen angel called 'Samyaza', who Empire describes as "leader of a posse of six-armed angels known as the 'Watchers'. They're a giant breed of angels who have been at odds with God since the Fall - 'Samyaza' is another name for Satan - and likely to be a source of trouble for the Almighty, and Russell Crowe's Noah too." Margolis then discusses filming all of his scenes with Crowe and playing a 12-foot CGI character. "All of my scenes are with Russell [Crowe], who I found to be a very funny guy. They used me and my voice, but they had a pole standing up from a backpack I was wearing, so that Russell had a sightline of a person 12 feet high. I hope that some of my facial movements are used in the final thing." What do you think of these comments?

Noah stars Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, Douglas Booth, Ray Winstone and Sir Anthony Hopkins. The film is set to hit theaters March 28th, 2014.

I wonder if they'll have Methusula in this. He was Noah's Grandad and the oldest man alive and apparantly died just before or during the flood. They could have a dark scene with him dying in a Marlon Brando heart of darkness kind of way and then everything gets epic and we get a bigassed flood!
Also, weren't these the same Watchers who fvcked a load of Earth girls, because they were watching them inthe shower all the time? And y'know what they say about Earth girls, anyway, right?

I really hope they don't twist the word of God in this movie. It's one thing to add to the story but something else entirely to change it.

This movie seems to be inspired by some of the events narrated in the "Book of Enoch". It is a non-canonical book that never made it to the current Bible, but there are references to the "Book of Enoch" in Epsitles and Acts of the Apostles. Just sayin...

Do you people actually believe that all of the major prophets in the Bible are White? That's how you know it's all BS. Do you think an all powerful being would only entrust his biblical message to be carried out by just one race? Come on, use your brains. Do you believe in the GOD Zues, Thor, Muhammad, Ala, Kubla Khan, Ra, Kwanin, etc? Of-course you don't because just like me you're skeptical about religions in general. "The only difference between you and me is I believe in one less GOD than you do".

Following the Christian tradition these six armed angels could possibly be identified as the 'Nephilim' mentioned briefly and with little context in Genesis 6:4.

"The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown" (ESV).

Following the Jewish tradition these six armed angels commanded by 'Samyaza' are found in the Book of Enoch which describes a 'group' of angels led by 'Samyaza' (not necessarily synonymous with Satan). These angels or 'watchers' are also called the 'Grigori', which is Greek for 'Watchers'.

In my humble opinion as someone with a degree in Theology, it is a momentous stretch to promote these beings to demi-god or god-like status. Fallen angels, or even Satan himself (a fallen angel), are not even close to being on the spectrum of power, glory, and sovereignty of God.

@SuspenseSmith

I suppose if you want to say the devil is behind every ‘idol god’ or idol worship of false gods, that could be entirely possible, however, the language of referring to idols as gods in Scripture is more symbolic in nature and understood in context of a particular time and culture. The only real ‘God’ in Scripture is the one true God of the monotheistic Jewish and Christian faiths. To elevate Satan or other fallen angels to the level of a 'god' or the 'God' in any manner is blasphemy of either faith.

A guy tried to argue with me that Noah had DINOSAURS on the ark! I can't wait to see the JURASSIC PARK CGI pull that off....pair of T Rex marching up the ramp.

Do you realize how much rainwater would have to fall to cover the Earth worldwide higher than mountain tops? And at that altitude, the air would be so thin that Noah & family & animals would freeze and die? And where did that water go afterwards? Would God really wipe out millions of CHILDREN around the world, in other countries and continents?

I believe there is a Creator/Maker. Every culture around the planet had a creation tale when Genesis was written (and even before). This was the tale the Hebrews wrote down.

Another point....the story says the Flood was God's way of clearing the planet of "the wicked". Was it successful? It means that all wickedness today comes from the descendants of Noah (the only survivors) so why bother to let he and his family survive, since God can see the future? (and if dinosaurs were to be extinct, why bother with all the effort to get them on the ark....let 'em drown.)
