With The Hunger Games: Catching Fire now finished filming, development is moving forward on adapting the Mockingjay novel, which will be split into two films wrapping up the series. According to Deadline, actress Julianne Moore is wanted by Lionsgate and director Francis Lawrence to fill the role of President Alma Coin, who is described as "the manipulative politician who figures brightly in the finale as Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) becomes a symbol of rebellion against the autocratic Capitol government." Jodie Foster was previously approached for the part. Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth and Philip Seymour Hoffman will reprise their respective roles from prior films. Moore will next be seen in films such as Seventh Son and the Carrie remake. What do you think of this casting choice?

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 hits theaters November 21st, 2014; Part 2 arrives November 20th, 2015. Catching Fire, which debuts November 22nd this year, was recently confirmed to have a panel at next month's San Diego Comic-Con, where it will premiere a new trailer.

I always get a kick out of something being referred to as a "two-part" finale. Why not take a trilogy and call it a three-part finale? Sorry, the only actual finale will be the fourth film. :-p

While I was reading it, I pictured Kristin Scott Thomas. She has a certain grace and yet an icy quality that would have paralleled Sutherland's Snow, but for the other side.

But hey, I like Julianne Moore, so whatev's

@JaiHo

Exactly. Reading the books, I had always pictured her, and although im upset about Frances McDormand not being contacted for the role, im sure Julianne Moore will do a great job.

@NoAssemblyReqd nail on the head my friend.. although i liked revolutions more than mockingjay, there was almost nothing redeeming about this book, it was like from a whole other story/writer..
