The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be one of the biggest attractions at San Diego Comic-Con next week, and Entertainment Weekly has begun its coverage by debuting this week's cover, which puts the highly anticipated sequel in the spotlight. Offering a new look at Spidey's (Andrew Garfield) new costume, the cover also reveals a first official peak at Jamie Foxx suited up as the villainous Electro. "To get to be the villain and get to say all the cool stuff? Of course!", says the Oscar winning actor on being offered the job.
EW visited the NYC set of the film (which recently wrapped production), and director Marc Webb had this to say about moving forward with the franchise. "You can feel it. People aren’t scared. With the first one I felt it was important to retell that origin story. But that was kind of brutal because people were so familiar with it. Now that the origin story is done? We’re off to the races. It’s incredibly liberating." The magazine's coverage of the sequel also teases Peter Parker's "close but complicated relationship with Oscorp founder Norman Osborn (Chris Cooper) and his son, Harry (Dane DeHaan)," as well as continuing his relationship with Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) and dealing with the mystery of his parents' disappearance. EW also debuted a brand new still from the movie, featuring Peter alongside Harry. You can check it and the cover out below, and stay tuned to CBM for more news as we have it. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters May 2nd, 2014.
