In the second installment of
Ask Drew, Hitfix's Drew McWeeny is asked about his thoughts on the upcoming
Alan Taylor directed,
Terminator: Genesis. Apparently, McWeeny was able to get his hands on the script and described one scene in perticular.
Kind of like Back to the Future, the Terminator: Genesis script folds into the first film in the series....There's a scene in the script where literally, we see the scene in the first Terminator where Arnold steps out, the punks threaten him, he rips Bill Paxton's heart out and takes his clothes and wanders off. And as soon as that scene ends, another Arnold Schwarzenegger who's older, and bearded and a very different version of the Terminator, comes walking in from the other side and plays another scene, right at the scene of that first incident.
McWeeny also said that he described the scene after a panel to Bill Paxton, who (as mentioned above) played one of the punks in the original Terminator.
This falls in line with previous reports that suggested the movie would be revisitng scenes from the first two films. Personally, I'm very curious to see how this plays out.
They previously sent out a casting call for an "80s punk" and of course they've already cast Emilia Clarke and Jai Courtney as Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese, so I assume they won't be using any arcival footage from The Terminator or Terminator 2: Judgment Day. It may be easier to simply re-create old scenes in 2014 as using old footage could cause some legal and technological headaches.
Terminator: Genesis just started filming this past Monday. Hopefully, we won't have to wait too long until we get a peak at what the future has instore. Or in this case, the past.
