NOTE: After a few months of exile under the guise of BatHeis, I have had my ban lifted. I am here to to restore order, peace and logic to the editorial section. I am the true king of the editorial section, and protector of the realm. The editorial section will be mine, and those who oppose will burn.
On that awesome note, let's get to the editorial!
Many have speculated and argued over which Green Lantern should be in the DCCU and who should play him. Now, I am open to Jon Stewart or Hal Jordan. This editorial is not about which Green Lantern should be in the League, rather, who should play the better one, Hal Jordan. Now, there are plenty of ways to go about him, in age, experience and who would play him. But I think Liam Hemsworth is the perfect choice to play Hal Jordan. Here's why:
1. He has franchise potential and is largely available
Liam has been a bit below the radar in Hollywood. He was in the Hunger Games movies, but really isn't the star of anything. But as his older brother proves, the Hemsworth name isn't to be trifled with. Liam is a young, good looking actor who happens to be talented. Liam is really only really noteworthy for his relationship with Miley Cyrus, the poor guy. While Liam has Independence Day 2 coming up, he still isn't a HUGE star yet. But he certainly can be.
He also seems to be available largely available. He just finished the Hunger Game movies up, and the Independence Day franchise doesn't seem to be a massive franchise that will take up all his time. This availability is an important thing to consider when you cast a lead for a large franchise. Liam is looking for a huge breakout role, and Green Lantern can be it.
2. He is the perfect age
When casting for a lead of a large franchise like this, age is pretty important. He has the availability, and the young age to commit to such a big franchise. While Hal could be a variety of ages, a younger Hal could be an absolute blast to see rather than a more broken, older Hal.
Another great thing about casting Hal Jordan young is he would be very close to Erza Miller's Flash. I always though Flash and GL should be close in age, and this would be the perfect way to do it. We can really get a large story arc for Hal rather than see him later in his career.
3. It would piss off Gusto
Gusto's favorite superhero is Hal Jordan. Coincidentally, his biggest crush is Miley Cyrus. Another large coincidence is that Liam DATED Miley. See where I'm going here? Gusto hates Liam. With every fiber of his being, Gusto hates Liam.
So in a fitting irony, you cast Liam Hemsworth as the green ring bearer himself. It would be a twist not even the great Shamalayan himself could create. It's a fitting tragedy in the down-spiraling atrocity that is Gusto's hopes and dreams. One Bud Light at a time.
4. He looks like Hal Jordan
While I've said looks aren't the biggest problem with casting, it never hurts to have someone look like the character they are adapting. Hal is a cocky pilot with a smirk always on his face. So it's fitting to cast someone that can capture that in his looks. He’s also pretty big at 6’3. Needless to say, he’s huge, and can fit the physique so well.
Well that's all for today, but feel free to tune in down below. While this is a short editorial, it is effective. May the force be with you, and remember,
