While in Tokyo for the premiere of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Jackman confirmed that the sequel will be set in Japan and said that the script was being worked on "right now."
Hugh Jackman dropped a tantalizing bombshell at the Japanese theatrical release of X-Men Origins: Wolverine in Tokyo that could indicate we will be seeing a sequel sooner than we think.
After driving into the premiere on a motorcyle--mirroring Logan's ride in the film--Jackman stood with Sato Ryuta, a famous Japanese actor and said:
"Hopefully, maybe a couple of years down the track, the next Wolverine movie we think will be set in Japan. I'm very excited and I'd like to invite you all to the audition. There are going to be many parts and we're writing the script right now ... and we'll let you know when we're ready to shoot."
