To help build excitement for (or feed off of the excitement from) Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, director Edgar Wright's adaptation of the Scott Pilgrim comic book series by Bryan O'Malley, Adult Swim will air a "love letter" to Scott Pilgrim in animation form called Scott Pilgrim vs. The Animation the night before the release of the movie.

Here's a few seconds of footage from the program, as well as the TV spot promoting the special! Voices are by Michael Cera, Allison Pill, Mae Whitman and Jason Schwartzman.

Scott Pilgrim vs The Animation airs Thursday, August 12th in two parts between 12 and 12:30 am, inside commercial breaks on [adult swim]. It will also be available in full on adultswim.com, and on the [adult swim] and Scott Pilgrim FaceBook pages the day after it airs.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World opens August 13th!

For my money,[adult swim] was a LOT better in its early days. I couldn't get enough of their original shows like Birdman, Sealab 2021, Venture Brothers, and Aqua Teens, and they opened my eyes to hilarious short-run series that I'd never seen like the Oblongs and Mission Hill, not to mention the funniest-thing-ever, the pilot for Welcome to Eltingville (if you've never seen this, go to YouTube NOW and watch- if you've ever known gamers or sci-fi geeks, or ever been in a comic shop in your life, you'll cough up a lung laughing). Guarantee it! Then they saved Family Guy and Futurama. Nowadays, I find most of their original shows to be stupid and unwatchable. About the only current things I like on there are the Venture Brothers and Robot Chicken.

That said, I'll have to tune in Thursday night for half an hour because I want to see more of this Scott Pilgrim cartoon. I presume you're listing Eastern time, which will put it early enough in Central that I can watch it. The Scott Pilgrim movie looks like a LOT of fun, and is one I'll definitely be seeing.

Shaman: If you're not familiar with [adult swim], check out their website, www.adultswim.com. Look under video-they've got full episodes of a lot of their series there. Lot of good stuff there.

One more thing, I KNEW I was forgetting one of the older shows I used to like- Home Movies! That was really clever and funny.

I saw the movie last night! It was Amazing!

Where else can you find Michael Cera fight Superman, Captain America, King Louis XVI, Tinkerbell and pull a flaming sword from his chest!?!

Comicb00kguy, I somewhat agree, I miss Birdman, I haven't watch Spaceghost Coast to Coast in ages, I don't even know if they still make them.

I'll have to check Adult Swim out eventually... I was wondering where Harvey Birdman & Spaceghost came from and why they were plastered all over the place. I've never seen anything from them :)

Oh and i'm sooooo gonna go see Scott Pilgrim in theaters! That looks like a good clean fun movie WITH ANNA KENDRICK!!!!

NO NO NO!!!
THIS IS POINTLESS!!
WHY HAVE THE VOICES FROM THE MOVIE?!?
ok look all those who read the comics now that michael cera as scott pilgrim is a horrible match...they are nothing alike...i don't think cera is going to do a horrible job tho it's just that he does not fit the character whatsoever! especially the voice...it's soo...wrong for scott pilgrim...now he's doing the voice over??? seriously! who's in charge of this?? i was sooo looking forward to an animated series...one who felt just like the comics did..where the characters weren't timid...they were obnoxious and loud and almost hyperactive...this is lame...

@j0nny I agree Michael Cera is a horrible choice for Scott Pilgrim but meh, I still think the movie will be awesome.

can't wait for this.
@j0nny I think Cera is shaping up to be an excellent Scott. and his voice coming out of the cartoon version of the character sounds better than his voice coming out of Michael Cera. it sounds so spot-on it's unbelievable.

@nuke...I totally agree....if the film was animated liked this then I can totally see it. Seeing it animated makes it more cool and convincing. I would love to see a scott pilgrim cartoon series. Like a prequel to the film/book.

@j0nny, as a huge fan of the series, and having already seen the movie, I can vouch that Michael Cera does an excellent job as Scott, IMO see the movie before you nerd rage with no basis for it.
