It's been nearly two years since writer, actor, producer and real-life ninja Eric Gable first teased the CBM community with an exclusive first look at his labor-of-love fan film Batman Evolution, but the short film is finally completed. The short premiered Friday in Berlin, Germany, but Eric granted CBM the North American exclusive first look at what is sure to be a fan film classic.

Here's a few words from Eric:

Batman Evolution was super fun to make! And although it IS a comedy, in the midst of all the silliness we get a chance to show off authentic ninjutsu techniques for the first time on film. This is the martial art Batman supposedly trained in, yet we’ve never seem him use it…before now. I traveled to Japan to study ninjutsu years ago, and I'm really surprised no one has brought it to film yet. Literally, all the "ninja" movies to date are actually using karate. And, I truly mean no offense to anyone by saying this, to me it's like having a movie about baseball where everyone's actually playing football! I really do have a sense of humor about it though. Anyway, creating the real "ninja Batman" is something I've been dreaming of for years.

I know some of you have questions about the costume, the lack of cape, etc., and most of those questions should be answered in the video itself. One of the challenges was to find a Bat-suit that wouldn't fall apart under all the strain. The motorcycle Bat-suit was chosen for this because we knew that it could take a beating. The suit was a size smaller than what you'd want to wear, and I was only at about 40% mobility, but luckily that's all we needed this time out. The cowl was donated by a friend.

There were a few other major challenges. First of all, the reason for the long delay is that this was a film that got made based on favors, not cash, and you can’t really rush people who are willing to work for free. So, it was in limbo for the better part of a year while we waited for some of those favors, but I'm not complaining because we got the best in the biz on this!

We did have some other troubles along the way, but overall it worked out the way I envisioned it and it was a blast to make. Hopefully, the fans will forgive anything that's less than perfect and just enjoy it for what it is. After all, it's virtually a no-budget project!

We're currently gearing up to shoot a feature in Australia this summer. A horror-action movie with a real budget and resources. (To be announced at Berlin this weekend). Even though it's not Batman, I have a feeling the Batman fans are going to love it. So, stay tuned CBM!

Surprisingly was pretty good. There was even some interesting fighting scenes. I just wasn't a fan of the Bale Batman voice. I never really cared for the voice. I know Batman's voice in the comics has been described as like stepping on broken glass and just hearing Batman talk to you is to leave you in pain but when I here it I just get annoyed more then pain.

Kinda bad ahha but I laughed when Black Mask asked batman in the beginning, "How much do you love Dick?!"

I thought this was pretty good. A little tacky with the new and the old persona's, but it makes for something different. Black Mask was great and the fighting was very well worked out and timed nicely. Camera work and editing worked good together as well. I'll give it a B+.

Batman = cape

No cape = no Batman

Not sure why there should be any confusion on that point.

I remember in City of owls when Batman had his cape ripped off and it was really disturbing. Same thing in the old Batman Gothic (by Grant Morrison). He fell off a roof and his cape was torn off. Batman's fundamental identity is his cape. Too buzzed to argue thre point but a fan fiction film without the cape is freakin stupid.

For the longest time I was waiting to see this, it was good but I was expecting more. Still an interesting idea with great fight scenes for a fan film. 8 out of 10 as far as fan fics go.

that... that was Horrible. Poorly shot, even more poorly edited. I'm sure Eric Gable can fight, But, that didn't show it at all. To much un-needed slow motion and The Dubstep was a horrible choice for music.

I want to see Batman Fight! Not glitch around like he is Venellope from "Wreck-It Ralph." And the Old Batman was just not needed and not funny.

I give it 1 out of 5 Stars.

If you're legitimately taking issue with a 6-minute, less than serious fan film, then you should really get out more.

We've got Batman meets Venom meets 300, all in a span of 6 minutes of garbage. Amazing how people on here say that was good or awesome. Sounds like the same trollers who actually said Iron Man 3 was an awesome movie.

Hmmm... I wasn't expecting the campiness of the 60's Batman TV show tbh. I thought this would have had a more serious tone like the Nolan movies.

The fighting choreography was incredible! I just feel this would've been much better without the campiness and jokes though.

great stuff. that was a great Batline at the end. They should use that in Batman vs superman. At the end of superman and batmans fight with Lex whose been taking Batman for a joke: whats your superpower , "I could tell you what my supers pow is but you wouldn´t understand."
