In an isolated swamp, far out of civilizations reach, lurks something sinister. Below the eerily still surface of the water there lies a fortress of evil, a fortress of doom. Deep within the bowels of this monstrosity lies a large chamber of highly advanced technology. In the center of this chamber a sphere of crackling energy is forming. The sphere seemingly opens a window to a far off arctic location. Three diverse beings emerged from this whole in space as it closed up behind them. One of these beings was a deformed mockery of a great hero, this monster was carrying a rather large object wrapped up in a cover. One of the beings, one with diodes on its artificial head, spoke to the deformed individual. “Bizarro take the device to my lab, carefully.” It added with as much emphasis as its mechanical tone could inflect. The bald one looked at his companion “You’re sure this will work Brainiac?” Brainiac turned and looked at the bald man. “Of course Luthor, with my designs and your resources it should only be a matter of hours before I will be able make it work for our needs.” Lex Luthor looked smiled sinisterly, “Good, things are falling into place.”
“Hello Superman, ready for some fun?” said a maniacal voice, with glee. Superman looked up knowing whom to expect, the Toyman. Superman ignored Toyman as he continued to taunt him, yet again. “Guess what Superman, I have a gift for you. Hee hee hee. Give up it’s a Kryptonite yo-yo.” Superman immedialy felt even weaker as Toyman pulled the “yo-yo” out of a lead box. Toyman swung the yo-yo at Superman striking him three times before he moved to swing it one more time. As he swung the yo-yo torwards Superman its was shot out of his hand. Angrily Toyman swung around to see who had spoiled his fun. It was Luthor. “Toyman, I have told you repeatedly, WE NEED HIM ALIVE. And besides, don’t you have other things to do, certain things to obtain.” Luthor said hesitating at that last part with Superman so near. “Oh Lex, you should know by now that I can be in two places at once.” “Leave now! Or next time the bullet will be through that wooden head of yours.” Luthor said holding a gun that resembled a futuristic Luger. Luthor turned and walked off. After appeared to be out of earshot Toyman chuckled, “He said wooden.” Luthor spun around and quickly fired two shots at the wall behind Toyman’s head, one of the shots ricocheted off the wall until it embedded in something. “OK I’m leaving.” Toyman said walking off. After they were both gone Superman looked down at his restraints, the bullet Luthor shot knocked the piece of Kryptonite out of the housing it was in. The bullet had lodged in the housing, to a quick inspection, there appeared to still be a piece of Kryptonite in place. Superman looked up at the red solar energy projectors, now if only he could do something about that.
In the Hall of Justice the Justice League is sitting as Batman finishes laying out his plan. “That’s all I can you at this point, because they have Grodd and he may be able glean the information from your minds.” No one pointed out the fact that Grodd could do the same thing to him. Though many in the room didn’t think it would be possible for Grodd to penetrate Batman’s mind.
Lex Luthor walked into the main chamber of the Hall of Doom, he saw that his confederates were waiting for him. He took his place and began to address the others. “My fellow victims of “Justice” he addressed them wuth a hint of sarcasm in his voice as he said the last part. “The time is now. For to long we have been forced to hide, for to long we has been forced to scavenge for what we need, for to long we have been hunted and defeated. For to long THEY have been trying to oppress US and force us to conform to societies’ standards, its restrictions. After today we will decide the standards, we will RULE THE WORLD, no WE CAN RULE THE GALAXY!” The others broke out in cheers after he concluded his speech. Luthor turned to Toyman, “Take us out of here Toyman.” Toyman simply nodded as the Hall of doom shuddered.
Deep below the surface of the water lies a dome shaped building, the Hall of Doom. The water below and around this monument to evil began churning and bubbling. Above the water the swamp seemed to glow as the Hall of Doom broke the surface of the water and was airborne! Powered by highly advanced engines the Hall transported the Legion of Doom to their destination Metropolis!
Back at the Watchtower the Justice League were preparing an assault against the Legion. Flash looked about the room at his friends. Aquaman looked fully healed physically, but emotionally Flash knew he was agered at the death of his son at Black Manta’s hands. Flash worried that his friend may cross the line getting back at Manta. Flash looked at Wonder Woman, who except for marks that looked like burns from the scratches, was putting on a strong front. He knew, like she did, that without a sample of the poison from Cheetah they wouldn’t be able to make an antidote. Flash heard Batman tell her that if she got into the fight that it would advance the poison, that was only held in check by the antitoxins at the Watchtower. But, despite her extreme pain she was preparing for battle, like the rest of them. She had even taken out her Amazonian sword, which she rarely used. He looked over at J’onn, who sat silently, mentally searching for any sign of Superman. Green Arrow and Black Canary stood off to one side holding each other and speaking softly, Flash wondered what they were saying, last good byes? Batman was over at the computer referencing facts, and sending instructions to other heroes in case they didn’t make it back. Hawkman was silently sitting in a chair clutching his battle axe and mace, debating which to bring in to battle perhaps, or which to leave to his beloved Shiera. Flash looked at Black Lightning who seemed more overwhelmed with the fact that he was here and a member of the Justice League, rather than worried about the battle. And finally he looked at himself, the fastest man alive, and he couldn’t even say goodbye to Linda.
Batman was preparing to end, what may be his final conversation, with an old friend. “Robin you understand my instructions.” From the other end of the transmission Dick Grayson, better known as Robin, looked at his mentor, “Yeah Batman, I understand, I wish I was there with ya.” Batman turned like he was going to leave, but turned back to the screen, knowing he wanted to say more, knowing Dick deserved more. “Robin, I know we have had our differences but…. I am proud of what you’ve become, the man you’ve become.” Robin looked at his mentor on the screen about to reply, when. “Batman they’re coming!” a voice, the Martian’s said. Batman and the other Justice Leaguers prepared for the battle. Suddenly a loud broadcasted voice was heard.
In the skies above Metropolis, slowing to a stop above the Watchtower, was the Hall of Doom. The Hall of Doom emitted an EMP blast that took out every electronic device in the city. After a moment they sent out a broadcast signal to every tv, radio, and computer in the world. Suspended below the Hall was a huge holographic image of Lex Luthor. “Citizens of Metropolis. I have called you here today to kill Superman.”
At the Titan’s tower Robin and the rest of the Titans looked at Luthors image and the Hall of Doom, being broadcasted globally. One of the Titans, Changeling, said. “Robin why did they order us to stay, what if they aren’t enough, what if they don’t make it?” Robin stood silent for a moment. “We all make sacrifices, we all do our jobs, but them they're the best ever. Not because they're the strongest, they aren't. It's because they're different, they've proven it time and again. They make the hard choices, the right choices. And if they sacrifice it all, the its up to us to live up to their example.”
Well that’s part three of my story, I hope you like it. I put Robin in there as a reference to the JLA from Challenge to the Super friends, of which he was a member. Let me know what you think. Thanks for readinig.
