My top 10 superheroes and reasoning behind it.

When I was a little kid I grew up watching/reading Superman, Batman and Spider-man so naturally they became my favorites. I love both Marvel and DC and I don't understand why people have to pick one side and not like the other. I love comics, plain and simple.

Here's my top 10 superheroes.

1: SUPERMAN

My favorite superhero like most people. Amazing powers, epic fights with big bosses, and sweet costume. Superman is made for people who enjoy great boss fights with loads of destruction.

2: BATMAN

Batman has so many great story lines it's impossible to start counting. He has a great rogues gallery and is a great hero because of his ability to overcome super powers with his intellect, gadgets and fighting skills. Great tv shows, movies, and games help contribute to my liking of Bats.

3: SPIDER-MAN

Grew up watching the 90's tv show all the time. Spiderman's unique abilities give him a very interesting appreciation for the character. Like Batman he has a great rogues gallery and a lot of great story lines. There have been good shows, movies and video games for the Web head too.

4: FLASH

The smartalec speedster is someone many enjoy reading and watching. The ability to run at super sonic speeds is a very fascinating feat. Flash has different people that portray the character which gives the hero many story lines and keeps things interesting.

5: CYCLOPS

Growing up Cyclops was my favorite X Man. We could relate because we both had eye problems. Grant it I just had horrible vision and he optic blast but still, issues with the eyes was there. Loved his optic blast, costume and leadership roles he took on.

6: GREEN LANTERN

Green Lantern has very unique powers unlike any other superhero. The ability to create contrusts with light is very interesting and cool to see on paper, tv and finally on the big screen (even if it wasn't as good as it should have been). Many great story lines and like Flash, many other Lanterns make GL one of my favorites.

7: ROBIN

Some people may not like Robin but I think he's awesome. Very smart kid and sweet costume, gadgets and staff. Love how he develops and eventually becomes Nightwing(Dick Grayson) and Red Robin(Tim Drake). Poor Jason....lol

8: WOLVERINE

One of the most bada$$ dudes in comics. This dude doesn't take any kind of crap from no one. Awesome healing ability, with adamantium claws, cool collection of costumes and a bada$$ attitude makes Wolverine one of my favorites.

9: HULK

Such a unique character this Hulk hero is. Changing from this weakling Dr. Banner to this Hulking Goliath with unlimited strength. A very cool character to watch destroy any who try to destroy him.

10: SILVER SURFER

Always loved this character growing up. Loved how he traveled through space on a surf board and had the power cosmic and could take on pretty much anyone in the in universe.

So those are my favorite superheroes.

Hurm, just notice that there are no female super heroes on the list; so much for progression I guess.

@BigK1337 there just really isn't any female heroes out there that I would consider as some of my all time favorites. Wonder Woman's fine and so is Rogue but I wouldn't put them in my all time top 10. But super villains on the other hand, Dark Phoenix is my 2nd all time favorite villain. Love that character. And Harley would go on there someone too.

@DROMEO as I put in the Green Lantern description, GL is portrayed by many other people which keeps the character interesting. Always loved John Stewert, Hal Jordan, and Kyle Rayner, not so much Guy Gardner.

@ Fats

nah man, I understand where you're coming from. I can't stand the whole thing either. Does that make me racist? no. There just aren't many good black heroes. Or heroes of any race. There is a reason for that, though.

The most successful characters in comics were created a VERY long time ago, mostly the 50's and 60's. Times were much different back then, and comics in general were very stereotypical.

Anyway, the bottom line is you're right. People shouldn't HAVE to like a black character, just because they're black. Or female, or any other race. The fact of the matter is that most of the best characters are white. I don't feel I should have to say I like Luke [frick]ing Cage, just so someone won't call me a goddamn racist. Its ridiculous.

I'm a Black guy, and I have to say that its silly ti HAVE to have a "minority" superhero on someone's list. Its more insulting that there would HAVE to be one... I'm 30 years old. I grew up watching the same cartoons and reading the same comics as most of the people on this site. There just aren't that many minority heroes in the mainstream, There are some awesome ones like Blade or Bishop, but none the caliber of the characters on this list. Honestly John Stewart is the only Black hero on my top 10 also, simply because he's bunched in with the other Lanterns...

Oh, and by the way...

@JDuke25 - "I love both Marvel and DC and I don't understand why people have to pick one side and not like the other. I love comics, plain and simple." Amen to that!

My Top 10:
1. Optimus Prime - Its not easy being the coolest character in a Universe as awesome as Transformers. Especially when ur a semi-truck along side Porsches, Jets and walkmen(lol) He's the ultimate Leader, warrior and Humanitarian...

2. Superman - The name says it all! one of the oldest and definitely the most imitated hero ever. He it the most powerful hero around but is still best known as a true symbol of truth and justice.

3. Batman - Probably the most famous and relatable origins in comics history. Bats is born from the pain of loss, has no powers and is the ultimate under dog. He shows how a normal man can compete with gods through sheer will, determination and an little preperation :-)

4. Goku - An innocent almost child-like hero even after he has children of his own. Goku is virtuous and pure hearted, but still has a heart of a tiger. His never-ending pursuit of a stronger challenge is inspiring.

5. Terry Bogard - He's every-man. He drinks, he swears, he bangs the chick. He's one of the strongest fighters in the world, but he's no monk. Yet still very noble at heart...

6. Spiderman - He is the reader! A nerd who pines after the most popular girl in school. Who on here can't relate to that? He has real-world problems. And an awesome theme throughout. "With great power comes great responsibility"

7. Wonder Woman - The original "warrior princess" She's not a strong woman, she's just strong! Her power is evenly matched with her great skill. Who can't she go toe-to-toe with...?

8. Flash - The fastest man alive. Period! Almost infinitely fast, he can't be touched by anyone. Not superman, not even Death! Personally my vote for the most powerful hero, his ridiculous power is only held in check by valor. His scene in JLU where he beats Braniac/Luthor is my fav in the whole series.

9. Hulk - The strongest there is. Its always fun to watch the Hulks raw power in action. I love the comics. I love the cartoons. I loved the show. I especially loved the movies. Even Ang Lee's. Hulk vs the Tanks and Hulk vs Abomination are 2 of my favescenes in CBM history.

10. Green Lanterns - All of them. The cool thing is that instead of standardized powers like Jedi, each Lantern used their ring depending on their mentality. Ones a pilot, ones a marine, ones an artist... All awesome in their own right, but equally cool...

I hate it when comics try to create multicultural heroes.
They make them way to stereotypical...
"Apache Chief" anyone?
They could make a latin superhero without being stereotypical and turning him into a zorro rip-off.
