Are "The Mandroids" in Iron Man 2?

Based from the trailer footage, it is very possible The Mandroids are in Iron Man 2!

To those who have no idea who The Mandroids were in the Marvel comic books, here is a description of them from The Marvel Directory website.

"A Mandroid is a heavily armored personal combat suit originally designed and engineered by Stark International for use by S.H.I.E.L.D. (Supreme Headquarters International Espionage Law-enforcement Division). Now manufactured by Stane International, the Mandroid armor is primarily used for protection against opponents who possess superhuman powers. The Mandroid armor was first field tested by S.H.I.E.L.D. against the Avengers when the Avengers were being investigated for harboring aliens during a recent skirmish in the Kree-Skrull War. Mandroid armor was also worn by Major Glenn Talbot of the U.S. Army in a confrontation with the Hulk. The plans to the Mandroid armor were appropriated by weapons manufacturer Moses Magnum and were once employed against the X-Men in Japan. While not nearly as versatile and powerful as Iron Man's armor, the Mandroid armor nonetheless is a formidable offensive weapons system. S.H.I.E.L.D. currently has five fully operational Mandroid suits."

We all know there will be robots, presumably created by Justin Hammer (though not confirmed), that will be attacking Stark/Iron Man throughtout the film and now it makes me curious.

Is it possible that the robots are The Mandroids or just robots created just for the film?

You have to admit, it is a weird coincidence that they were originally designed and engineered by Stark and designed for S.H.I.E.L.D., and obviously the fact that they are now manufacted by Stane International also makes me wonder if maybe Justin Hammer is now the manufacturer in the film universe? Hell, they fought The Avengers!

Coincidence? Very likely. Improbable? Not at all.

They look like Prototype Hulkbusters to me. But I doubt that's the case.

the robots also could be the Arsenal.

Bio
In the final months of World War II, American and other Allied scientists created a prototype weapon system code-named Arsenal, coupled with a control unit code-named Mistress, and designed both systems were capable of independent thought. Arsenal and Mistress were to be activated only in the event of an Axis victory, in order that fighting may continue if the war was lost. Obviously, they were never called.

Later, the American government hoped to use Arsenal in the growing Cold War, but the director of the project, Howard Stark (father of Anthony Stark (Iron Man),) convinced the government otherwise. Howard Stark, however, continued to experiment on the systems, and programmed the Mistress with the persona and brain patters of his wife, Maria Stark.

Arsenal and Mistress remained dormant for many years, and above their lair, the Stark family mansion.

Gaurdian: Arsenal first appeared in Iron Man #114 Sept 1978 then in The Avengers Anual #8 or 9. He trashed the Avengers in the Iron Man mag then they hunted him down with Thor in the Avengers annual. Both Very cool reads, I've had them since they came out about 30 years ago. Lord I feel old. LOL

Arsenal was a doomsday weapon designed by Howard Stark in case we lost the war. It was located underneath Avengers mansion in what was code named Project Tomarrow. It was a very cool storyline, but it wouldn't work well without the Avengers .

I don't think they are, because in the Iron Man 2 toy series, they have a toy for the drones, and they call them tactical assault drones, and if they were meant to be mandroids, I'm sure thats what they would title the toys.

You know, it's funny, but I could have sworn I already said in the "ET Footage" comments that they looked like they could be representing Guardsmen, Mandroids, or Titanium Man suits.... >.>

So um, not really news, no?
StephenStrange
StephenStrange - 12/21/2009, 3:54 PM
@ marvelfreshman: Got a pic? Maybe they are Mandriods but Favreau didn't want to use that name.

@ LEEE777: hell that would almost be as good as a bunch of Crimson Dymanos. If they are flying Gruardsman's I would be highly pleased. ANY of these options are classic Marvel AWESOMENESS

I hope they go the way of 'the armor wars' for the IM movies. but heres a little thought i have about IM and the avengers movies:

it appears to me that in IM2 justin hammer will develop those 'robots' that iron man and war machine are fighting against. He develops them maybe for the goverenment, to take the place of the 'weapon' general ross lost in 'the incredible hulk' (the hulk himself) if the army can't create super soldiers then they can at least make iron soldiers. just like the leader of the ten rings said in the first iron man movie: "the gift of iron soldiers" i believe was what he said. So basically what the avengers movie could revolve around is the american government trying to create either armies of androids or armies of super-soldiers/hulks. The first movie could be Loki taking over the hulks body and it takes Thor, Cap and IM to stop him, thus hulk joins the team. after his failure loki finds general ross and offers to help him create the army of suped up hulks. they do and the avengers defeat them. that premise would also have a nice arc for cap as it would have him fighting against corrupt people in his own government, he would be very torn.
you would also have to leave open the thread of the government working on the iron soldiers as seen in the IM2 preview. have them working and perfecting their design. so that in the second movie they create an andriod with AI so good it becomes a sentient being... it becomes ULTRON! maybe the government is mining vibrainium to build their andriods... mining it from WAKANDA! queue: THE BLACK PANTHER!

bam.. a little messy (im at work trying to hurry) but theres two movies right there! haha

@ Betty: I like the way you think. They'd be some damn hard opponents to fight right there! ;)

Mandroids, huh? The suits in the trailers kinda look like prototypes for the War Machine armor; I mean, they all look very similar to WM's armor. Perhaps they're robot versions of WM so they army doesn't need people in the suits?
