Batman Reboot: Under The Red Hood (Update)

Probably the best DC Universes Animated Original Movie come to life!

Hey, whatcha know it, another Batman reboot fan cast !! Wow!!!! Bet you guys haven't see one of these for the last....hhmmmm....4 minutes or so ?? Well, tough ! I'm making one ! And you know why ? Because I got nothing else to do and it raining outside and I'm just killing time till Warehouse 13 is on. Just keepin' it real.

Now with all the talks from WB on rebooting Batman after The Dark Knight Rises and after Christopher Nolan is done directing the franchise, they are looking at another direction or another take on The Cape Crusader and being a Nolan bitch I am, I'm all for it ! I love Chris Nolan take on one of my favorite superhero of all time, The Dark Knight is without a shadow of a doubt my favorite film in the history of forever BUT I kinda not getting the whole "realistic" take on Batman partly because he is a comic book character and whatever spin Nolan takes or do, he (Batman) is impossible to do in the real world ! You are talking about a billionaire who avenging his parents death by dress up like a bat and jumping from rooftops to rooftops, looking for mob bosses and crooked cops ! If someone does that in for real, he'll be die in a week, tops !! Anyways, some complaints are Nolan is taking out the comic book-ness of Batman and make it into a crime drama from TNT and I get why; Batman has no powers, he has to use his mind and his tech to fight of evil. But I want it to be back to the Batman from when I saw as a kid in the 90s animated show with Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill as the Joker, the over-the-top craziness without being too damn campy. And so a reboot is a freaking must !

So, I thought of a fan cast for Batman after TDKR and its base on my favorite DC animated film of all time, Batman: Under The Red Hood! It was genius! A Batman film I was waiting for, after The Dark Knight ! An extremely dark, brisk chapter to the World's Greatest Detective and it was so much more than most of the DC Animated films, Under The Red Hood aims for cinematic storytelling, as if Christopher Nolan hand his brilliant hands on it ! I would love, NO, beg WB to adapt this masterpiece into a live action film with a talented director and wow-factor cast that would surly make us all "Christopher Nolan who????!!" Here's are my chose:

Director: Darren Aronofsky

A super talented director; he was this damn close to direct Batman Begins. Hell, the story from Batman Begins was base on the script Aronafsky and Frank Miller wrote when he was attached to the film. Good chance he'll direct Batman in real life after Nolan though.

Jon Hamm as Bruce Wayne/Batman
jon hamm Pictures, Images and Photos

What is this ??! I chose Jon Hamm as a DC superhero ????! How [frick]ing original of me, huh ??!! :P Yes I know almost everyone here pick Jon Hamm as either Superman, before Henry Cavill or the next Batman and do you know why ? I'll tell ya a lil secret. Because he's a Goddamn good actor, that's why !!!! But I also had in mind:

Leonardo Dicaprio Pictures, Images and Photos

Photobucket

It may be preposterous; it may never happen in a million, billion years but COME ONE !!!! Leo DiCaprio as The Dark Knight ???? You will cream you pants with the very thought ! You know it ! Watch his recent movies and get back to me !

Adrien Brody as The Joker
Photobucket

Looking at the photos, it clear why some want him to play the man who "kill" Jason Todd, the second Robin. But it isn't the look, its Adrien Brody acting talents have me feel really comfortable with this pick and he knows how to play a psychotic man. Watch The Jacket.

Jake Gyllehaal as Dick Grayson/Nightwing

This was damn tough because Joseph Gordon-Levitt would have been the freaking PERFECT Nightwing and Christopher Nolan ruin it by cast him in The Dark Knight Rises as some cop ! Really ? JGL as a COP?!?! Well, In Nolan We Trust, I guess ! Anyways, maybe Jake Gyllehaal will surprise us. He is a good actor.

Logan Lerman as Tim Drake/Robin

He's pretty much anyone pick as for a superhero, whether its Spider-Man before Andrew Garfield or Tim Drake/Robin and I agree. The big complaint coming for Under The Red Hood was the absent of Tim, so I think why not have him in the reboot ? I will to see Red Hood kidnap Tim just to mess around Batman and show him how dangerous it is to have a partner. Another great scene is the battle of the Robins; Jason Todd vs. Dick Grayson and Tim Drake !

Michael Fassbender as Roman Sionis/Black Mask

Photobucket

I'm bias in this pick because since after seeing X-Men: First Class, where Michael Fassbender play Magneto, I want him to play ever villain in every movie !! Holy shit, he was freaking awesome !!!! WOW !! I'm not really a fan of actors who play more than one comic book character but for Fassbender ? I'll look the other way, to the movie screen, with him as Black Mask !

Ralph Fiennes as Ra's al Ghul

The only one (next to Daniel Day-Lewis) who can replace Liam Neeson. Also, he's Lord Voldemort. 'Nuff said.

Keira Knightley as Talia al Ghul

Talia made a cameo in Under The Red Hood and Keira Knightley was up for the role before it went to Marion Cotillard. Talia can do a lot more damage by training Todd after his resurrection.

Jeff Bridges as Commissioner Jim Gordon

Photobucket

The Dude as Commissioner Gordon is so damn perfect, why wasn't he cast in Batman Begins in the first damn place ??! Not that Gary Oldman is doing a shitty job but still !

Kate Mara as Barbara Gordon/Oracle

Barbara was mention in the movie when Jason talks about the horrible things Joker done. I will like the movie to be a mix of Under The Red Hood and The Killing Joke, a quick back history of The Joker and him crippling Batgirl. That'll be good.

Aaron Paul as Jason Todd/Red Hood

The main antagonist of the film, the second Robin, back from the dead and taking out Gotham City criminals with lethal force while searching for the man who made him eat crowbar, Joker ! I love the show Breaking Bad and Aaron Paul performance is so gritty, dark, a bit twisted, funny, believable, any other words in the vocabulary ! He so damn perfect for Red Hood, its damn near criminal not to cast him !

Michael Gambon as Alfred Pennyworth

Yes, I am casting Professor Albus Dumbledore as Alfred and I know you all going "He's Dumbledore ! He's too recognizable for the role !" OK lets do a test: Look at the photo of Michael Gambon I posted. Now look at him as Dumbledore
Almost unrecognizable, eh ?? The mile long wizard beard, the Arabian nights hat, the nasty-ass robe, jewelries of a Puerto Rican grandmother, put Gambon in butler clothes and here's your Alfred. Fun Fact: He was in the Doctor Who Christmas episode, A Christmas Carol, were he play a Ebenezer Scrooge-like guy name Kazran Sardick and months after seeing the episode, it hit me like someone threw a sonic screwdriver to my head; the bad guy in the Doctor Who Christmas Carol was Dumbledore !!!!! 0_0 He's an completely different person without the beard and the robe and the wane and the Harry Potter !

interesting cast. how about:

Batman/Bruce Wayne: James Caviezel (as a more seasoned, established Batman)
The Joker: Michael Sheen (albino David Bowie as Joker? might not be believable at first thought, but just see him act in Unthinkable) or Michael Massee (Funboy as Joker. 'nuff said)
Dick Grayson/Nightwing: Hayden Christensen. just kidding, Gylenhaal would work.
Tim Drake/Robin: Josh Hutcherson , but i guess Lerman works as well.
Commisioner James Gordon: Bruce Willis (the guy IS Gordon in 16 Blocks) or Bryan Cranston (great in Breaking Bad)
Roman Sionis/Black Mask: Joaquin Phoenix or Dominic West (i just think Fassbender would be a fantastic younger Batman, if they do a year two/three story to begin a new trilogy)
Ra's Al Guhl: Hirouki Sanada (can take the role in a new direction that i was saddened Watanabe didn't).
Barbara Gorodn/Oracle: i think for an older Barbara who's already Oracle, how about Lauren Ambrose?
Jason Todd/Red Hood: Jensen Ackles (if it ain't broken, don't fix it, although Paul would be great judging from Breaking Bad).

Nice, but id do Jensen Ackles for Red Hood, he voiced him and is a great actor. Leave him be.

Cool stuff, I'm not big on Gyllenhaal as Nightwing or DiCaprio as Batman (although both are great actors), but the rest are good.
Fassbender's a fantastic actor, but IDK about him playing Black Mask. I'm sure he'd rock in the role though.
I actually like James Franco for Red Hood. For some reason, I got quite a Franco vibe when watching Hood's scenes in the film.
But I'm good with the rest, especially Jeff Bridges as Gordon.

Not spectacular, because I'm not to sure if Gyllgenhaal can fit Nightwing, but it's pretty good. Nice job

Pretty decent cast man...i'd prefer the guy who did the voice of the red hood to reprise his role (Jensen Ackles) and i like your black mask pick but i believe that Mark Strong would do a damn good job at it as well...but overall good cast keep up the good work

Cool cast.If they made a movie about Under the Red Hood I would die of a nerdgasm. I like most of your picks and I do agree with you that Fassbender should play every villain after seeing how awesome he was in First Class.

Jon Hamm would make a good batman; he has the "Bruce Wayne" charm when he needs it, and he could totally nail the seriousness of Batman and intellegence.
Jake Gyllehaal for Dick Grayson is a great choice; he has a light-hearted personality and presence to him and he displayed that in Prince of Persia which also showed he can do some nice action sequences.
Jeff Bridges for Gordan; didn't really think about that but I could see him making that role his with making the character more confident in himself and have more authority.
For Jason Todd I would have to stick with Jensen Ackles; yes, he voiced for the character in the animated movie but I think if he did a live adaption he could probably make the character come to life that is true to the phrase "wayward son". Also, I think it would be a nice match up/duel between Jake and Jensen.
Now don't get me wrong I love Michael Fassbender as an actor, he is one of few actors I actively read about and watch his work, but I just don't see him playing Black Mask. Fassbender can play a hero, anti-hero, villian, or just a regular joe, but again, I just don't see that character lending much to Michael's strengths.

Just my two cents. . .
