I havent really enjoyed any of the Harry Potter movies but Order Of The Phoenix was the worst IMO so I'm not sure how to feel about this news! :(

On a seperate note, just read "Green Lantern: No Fear" and "Green Lanter: Revenge Of The Green Lanterns". One word: AWESOME!!!

I agree with @deadpool why not get Geoff JOhns in on it, and why is he trying to write a sequel now, the movie just wrapped up last week? Guess WB is planning ahead but still

@ helldemon - how does your comment make sense? Planning and doing. WB/DC plans to make 3 GL and Variety is reporting Goldenberg was hired, so what do you mean?

@ blueorangeny:

studios hire writers all the time. but not always these projects see the light of day. this is planning. or theory if you will. they need to green light the project afterwards, do the hiring (and I'm not talking about the writer) and the shooting and what not. that's doing. or practice. and between the two a lot can happen. see Guillermo del Toro and his "At The Mountains of Madness". He planned the movie for a very long time. But until recently, that was it for him. All he had were his plans. Now it looks like he will be doing this movie. Hope my comment makes sense now.

I hope the Green Lantern trilogy does not turn into some intergalactic Texas Walker Ranger.

@Wolverinesfury: GL2 won't be out in 2012, and neither will the Flash. Look for Batman 3 and Man of Steel in 2012, with GL2 and Flash coming out in 2013. Maybe even WW and a Justice League film in 2014.

The way the name Michael Goldenberg was italicized in the headline, I thought there was a pun involved. But it's not Michael Greenberg, so I guess I was wrong.

How about waiting till the first one hits theaters, see how it pans out, then announcing the sequel. If this first one bombs, which is highly possible, then why make a second?

Anyone knows when Jonah Hex 2 comes out? ;)

If yall saw what @pietro said before, and if you go to IMDB (I know not always reliable but still not always false) Ryan has his plate full for a while, and I dont think DC will release 3 movies in the same year, cause in 2012 Batman and Superman come out, and they want Wonder Woman and Flash out in 2013, which seems 2014 is the most logical release date for GL 2 if they greenlight it. I say Greenlighting it not as a pun, but as in I dont think they will do a sequel until they see the box office results from the first movie.

This isnt like Lord of the Rings where they filmed all 3 movies at once, one reason they did that was to save money but there were many other reasons as well.

I dont think WB will jump the gun and make a sequel RIGHT NOW. They will be smart with it and see how it does opening weekend first before doing a second movie.

@Redrum Exactly, we dont know what will happen at the box office. None of us can look into the future and see. Lots have to play a factor in helping it succeed at the box office, how WB goes about promoting it, like I said, first trailer in front of Harry Potter when it comes out in November, marketing it on certain brand products and what kids meals they will be in (I am assuming McDOnalds since Thor will be Burger King) A LOT plays into the factor. If it gets 100 million opening weekend, sequel for sure, if only 50, that may be pushing it for a sequel, it has a few weeks to do well, pretty much 2 weeks before Transformers 3 opens.

Warner Bros is hiding images or even mere news about this movie.
I fear that this excess of caution may cause a lack of hype and then make the movie a big UNsuccess...

I liked Order of the Phoenix but didn't like Where the Wild Things Are, so hopefully it's more like Harry Potter not that Wild Things crap.

This sounds both awesome and annoying to me, because I am way more excited for a Deadpool film dont get me wrong Green Lantern is awesome but I am a Deadpool and Marvel fan all the way that is my stuff.

And if this Green Lantern 2 Idea prevents Ryan from doing Deadpool then I will raindown a firey hellstorm upon WB!!! Besides the second one should do nothing about Hal Jordan it should maybe have him make a cameo but it should really be all about John Stewart, or Kyle Rayner. Then if they make a fourth one have the whole Green Lantern corps and a big epic fight.

I still feel thought Ryan was born for two roles and two roles only... Flash (Wally West), and Deadpool (Wade Wilson). Thats it.

he wrote where the wild things are? well, if he DID work on it it was on the script, not the story, so whatever... Jonze wrote the story himself. but contact was decent and peter pan was GREAT. HP5 was the weakest of the series but it was also the weakest book... it's the only one that doesn't stand up as an independent story, just a long-winded mess bridging the first half of the series with the second. that screenplay was gonna be a rough go for anyone.

hey, i thought peter pan was good.

@wolverinesfury Ryan has 6 or 7 upcoming projects and I havent been the only one that has mentioned that, that is why GL 2 most likely wont come out till 2014, I am not the only one that has said that and this is my last comment to you because I dont like people who attack my loved one personally.

'Order of the Phoenix' was my favorite Harry Potter movie. And I wasn't even a fan of the book. The book was like an emotional rollercoaster.

'Contact' was also a very good movie.
