Kevin Tancharoen is currently filming his 'Mortal Kombat' web-series in Vancouver, and now via his Twitter account he's showing us our first glimpse of Scorpion.

Jeri Ryan will reprise her role as Sonya Blade, and Michael Jai White will also return to the character of Jackson 'Jax' Briggs along with Darren Shahlavi as Kano, and of course Ian Anthony Dale is returning as Scorpion.

Kevin will be directing the 10 episode web-series being produced by Warner Bros. and is written by Kevin himself, Todd Helbing, and Aaron Helbing.

Here's a summary of the series via BloodyDisgusting:
"The only plot details we could conjure up is that a few Earthlings will fight to save the planet from Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung, two Gods ruling over parallel universes, or something to that effect."

Cool stuff! It's not a full feature movie so there isn't any high expectations, it's like a free-be for MK fans.

The trailer was better than the last 2 movies so I'm really looking forward to this. Hope it's successful enough and they make a full fledged movie.

Sillysteve, sounds like you don't like adaptions much. You just want everything to stay the same way and never change or deviate.

I for one enjoy seeing different artist's interpretations from time to time if done with a purpose. Borderlines are necessary though, of course.

i got to agree with SillySteve181191 first time i saw MK Rebirth first thing i said thats not MK its a SAW movie with martial arts. plus MK webseries has nothing to do with Mk Rebirth cause they still keeping the fantasy and this will be linked to the game.

@jazzman: I've tweeter around alot and this is going to be SIGNIFICANTLY more canonical than the shortfilm. Outworld and Edenia are in, Raiden's a thunder god, Shao Kahn is the same, Kitana and Sindel are still Edenian, Mileena is also true to etc. We won't even see Baraka or Reptile.....which is good because I'd rather not see them not have them get [frick]ed up.

@Sweetre15

i would like to see Baraka but not the version they did in the MK Rebirth short. but old school Baraka we all know and love. also if u been contacting them director and producer u should try and hint for Shin Koyamada as Liu Kang :P lol

Does anyone else find it interesting that Ian Anthony Dale has played both Kazuya in Tekken and Scorpion in Mortal Kombat in the last year, yet he isn't trained in any martial arts?Up until Tekken I've never even really seen him fight in a movie or TV show.If I recall correctly, he didn't do any martial arts in Tekken.

Is he getting these roles because he's one of if not the only current up and coming American actor of Asian descent and not because he's actually right for the role?

I've liked the actor for a number of years, but I'm not really digging these characters not being able to fight.

I like it. It's refreshing. When I showed my brother and friends the "movie" last year, they all wanted to know if/when the real full length movie of it was filming our. And, side from my brother and I, none of these guys are movie/comic nerds; they all love the games. I think that says something right there.

@Intruder- Hey! Cage was always one of my fav characters. I mean I always liked the ninjas the most- scorpion (the best and my #1 fav) then of course sub-zero, reptile, smoke, rain and ermac. But for humans i always liked Cage more than Liu Kang. Cage made the first film pretty funny and his fight with Scorpion was just EPIC.

Of course we both know though that Superman would have destroyed everyone! ;D sorry, had to say it. lol

And seriously- the nut-punch Cage used on Goro had to be THE MOST EPIC MK move in the old films! LMAO. Funny stuff that was.

And I'm guessing that this series will take place BEFORE the MK4 game. Because in that game Scorpion learned that Quan Chi killed him and his family, NOT the original Sub-Zero.

I wonder how they will tackle that IF they even do. =(
jazzman
jazzman - 2/25/2011, 5:58 PM
@intruder

Cage death is consider a fail, when they killed him in the video game it was consider one of the biggest mistake Midway did in MK universe. doing the same thing in MK:Annhilation and MK:Rebirth is just stupid
