Rex Mundi is a Dark Horse comic-book created by Eric Johnson and Arvid Nelson that hasn't been in print since 2009. In 2006 Warner Bros purchased the film rights to the movie with a script written by Jim Uhls, and it's looking like the movie is finally going to the big-screen being produced by Johnny Depp's film company Infinitum Nihil.

The comic was set in an alternate Europe in which the Protestant Reformation was crushed by the Catholic Church, resulting in the continuing of a medieval power structure where magic is also real. The story is set in 1933 and centers on a pathologist who investigates the mysterious death of the priest who found him as an orphan, a trail that ultimately leads to a quest for the Holy Grail. The book takes its name from the Latin term meaning King of the World.

Warner Bros. has hired Tron: Legacy screenwriters Brian Klugman and Lee Sterntha to help in bringing the comic-book to life.

There's no word as of yet on an actor to fill the lead role, or a release date but as soon as we have more information, so will you!

Warner Brothers is really determined to develop any property but the ones they already own.

They're trying to make Akira, Ninja Scroll, Bleach, RASL and now Rex Mundi, yet we only have Batman and Superman in the works.

@tazmaniak- Because such things you listed don't cost 200 million while they're already working on putting out 3 200-million dollar superhero movies amongst everything else they've got going on.

@yossarian... you do know that writers don't decide on the colors and how the film looks. they uh...you know... write. DEERP!

@LEEE- Like I said, this isn't a movie they're going to spend between 150 and 200 million on, like Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, or Watchmen. This will probably be something below 70 million that they can knock out in a month. This isn't what they'll be depending on to become their tentpoles, so it will take much less time, effort, and work.

OK Warner Bros. it's time to put your focus on DC properties. It's cool that we get Green Lantern this summer and you have Superman, Batman, and Preacher in the works right now but hows about The Flash, Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter, The Spectre, or Shazam!? MARVEL is kicking your ass.

uhm..... what the bloody hell is the big fear in getting out the MAJOR DC characters onto the big screen anyway? ...so far it's only Batman that gets the green light most of the time... Superman is either in development hell or in need of rebooting or rewriting.... WW is becoming a TV series, so that's a small step forward... Green Lantern is almost off the ground and coming.... but where the hell are the others? take a hint from Marvel (and unfortunately, FOX).... so far they've got as movies: Punisher, Daredevil, Elektra, Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Hulk, Blade, X-Men, Wolverine, Thor, Captain America.... geez, that's a LOT of movies (regardless of the fact that some of them sorta sucked - by FOX - - but hell, at LEAST they got turned into movies!)

What does DC have? Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Preacher, Constantine... that's just about it as far as I can remember.... regardless of the fact that sure, some of the Marvel franchise characters were mishandled by FOX, at least they have been turned into movies... Geez.... Marvel characters really are kicking them in the nads in terms of movie count... and I'm a DC fan too just as much as I like Marvel.

@theintruder.....those movies just simply shouldnt have been made....more relevant characters instead should have been invested in. aka...wonderwoman, flash, etc.
