This months issue of French magazine L'Ecran Fantastique features Captain America: The First Avenger on the cover and inside gives us a new image of a HYRDA soldier as well as some new information about the film that confirms some fan speculation in regards to the recent NY Times Square filming.

This excerpt has been translated from French so it may be a little rough in some parts.

[Possible Spoilers Ahead]

The film is set at 95% during the Second World War, but it starts today, for extracting a block of ice containing a mysterious figure, block located in the wreckage of a giant bomber. The film also ends in our time.

- The Shield: It is manufactured by Howard Stark, and the white parts are vibranium an indestructible alloy created by Stark Industries [vibranium it is therefore artificial, different from natural vibranium Wakanda, home of the Black Panther] . In his "discovery" in the present, the shield of Captain America will be alongside the hero in the ice.

- Skull and Red Cube: The Cosmic Cube is hidden in a church in Norway. Red Skull uses a tank to enter. The Cube is used to power a variety of vehicles, including the famous giant bomber, carrying bombs have targeted major U.S. cities and European capitals.

- Bucky and the Invaders: Bucky Barnes, and soldiers freed a camp of the HYDRA form a group called the Invaders [But then where are the Howling Commandos? Normally, the Invaders team is composed of superheroes as Namor, the origins Torch, Toro, Union Jack, Spitfire ...].

- An error / a Freudian slip? Stephen Broussard co-producer discusses the meeting of superheroes in 2012 as follows: Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Ant-Man and the Wasp in the Avengers movie. [Until now, the presence of Hank Pym and his wife has always been rejected.]

- A subject of the movie Iron Man 2 was used in Captain America [???].

So what do you guys think? We will actually see Ant-Man and the Wasp? Or was it just a simple mistake. I'm leaning towards just a simple mistake because there's no mention of Black Widow or Hawkeye and we know they're already confirmed to be in the movie.

Don't see how they're pulling off Namor since he's part mutant, but I've heard the rumor before. F'n A if all those other people mentioned are in there, that would be awesome.

Seems like Marvel wouldn't want to confuse the general audience with another non-FF Torch though.

the picture makes the movie looks more serious and less summer-movie than the rest of the photos to date.

I like it.

@Sagemode there was that hint in IM2 with the map behind Nick Fury and Tony at the end of the movie showing the location of T'Challa

plus, tony makes Vibranium in IM2... even though they dont call it that..

Since that team lineup doesn't include Hawkeye, I doubt there's any truth to Antman and Wasp.

I'm sure Cap is gonna rock. It would be cool to see Union Jack. I just hope the Avengers doesn't suck, considering Whedon's at the helm.

If Ant Man and Wasp are in it, ok great, but honestly, I wont cry if they are not. I never had a desire to learn about those 2. I mean yeah Hank Pym did create Ultron, but I mean what else is cool about him? The guy treats his wife, The Wasp like shit.

I hope Ant Man and Wasp won't be in it. I've always thought they were lame characters, but to each his own.

You know what, about a week ago, there was a poll on an Yahoo Movies article about which summer movie is people more looking forward to see. And to my surprise, Captain America was number 1. Bear in mind, the poll was on a website that the general public goes to, not just us comic book geeks. I think that Captain America may do better than expected with ticket sales.

I'll try to find that poll to verify and post the link here.

"In his "discovery" in the present, the shield of Captain America will be alongside the hero in the ice."

HUH? Then what is it doing in Tony Stark's Man Cave in IM2?? Presumably they have not found Cap yet when they are recruiting IM...but the Shield was there...?

There will almost definitely be a hint at Namor and Jim Hammond (not as the Human Torch of course) in Captain America. As far as Ant-Man and Wasp, expect a S.H.I.E.L.D. file or computer screen with their real names on it at most. They won't be cast until Marvel sorts out the whole Scott Lang/Hank Pym multiple timeline conundrum Edgar Wright is putting them through. Expect a possible cameo in Iron Man 3 as the earliest they will show up in person.

To be completely honest, when Marvel announces their 2013 and 2014 movie slate at Comic-Con, if Ant-Man isn't on it don't expect Edgar Wright to direct it when it comes out.

Also, I don't know if anybody else caught it, but Jasper Sitwell is in Thor and he was one of the very first SHIELD agents in the Strange Tales comics of the 1960's so he could be in this as well.

@ continuezero,

That shield was a prototype.
Priest
Priest - 5/10/2011, 4:29 PM
Sorry PuyGuy,

Btw, it was not in the box that Howard left behind for Tony. Apparently Tony had the prototype shield for some time since you can see it in a scene in the first Iron Man movie.

Gotta admit those Hydra people know how to dress to impress.

Well now I know why Evans looks different in almost every cap picture. He's really a skrull. I KNEW IT ALL ALONG! ;D

I'm guessing the IM2 footage will be where Fury leaves the diner for a meeting, possibly meeting Cap? OR it could just be the meeting of Selving in THOR =/ I just hope theres some sort of cameo of Antman and or Wasp in Avengers like Fury just namedropping some famous scientists in SHIELD or the mention of Pym Particles....... Wonder what the Hydra grunts will look like in the present? and is the TEN RINGS a part of HYDRA?

Great comment, I think it would be a good idea too for Hydra to be part of the 10 rings because it could lead into Iron Man 3 as that is the next solo Marvel hero film.

Again on the Invaders, I think the Coney Island incident where Namor and the Android Torch first met is a such a great story, the first major Marvel crossover, it would be cool if the Sub Mariner and Torch reference was a Newspaper clip in Stark's office of Coney Island on fire.

LEEE777 - 5/10/2011, 4:51 PM
NAMOR should be in it @ NUCK!

Another reason MARVEL STUDIOS needs all its Marvel heroes back!
SKOne
SKOne - 5/10/2011, 4:55 PM
@LEE777

Marvel has the rights to the Namor character, Universal currently holds the distribution rights like they do with the Hulk. It was all a matter of budget and taking away from Cap as the reason he is not in the movie. I don't think the reference at the end of Rise of The Silver Surfer would have gone anywhere and was probably just for fans. A third movie would probably dealt with The Inhumans or some other F4 villain.

@LFANCH

When Reed and Sue are getting married and they have to speed things up because the water is rising over the Sea of Japan. That is the Namor reference.

@RandomHero904

I honestly think they will be unnamed in the movie and only be called The Invaders in the videogame.

I have had a thought regarding the Ant Man/Wasp theories:
If the latest draft that Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish recently turned in has been accepted by Marvel and things can move on, there's no reason the roles can't be cast in the next few months and their shots filmed as pick-ups during the last couple of months before the film opens.

Whether these shots are cameos for the post-credit sequence or if they're dropped into the middle of the movie in a way similar to that in which Renner was in Thor, there doesn't have to be a massive amount of footage involved, just enough to introduce the characters and whet our appetites.

Try to keep in mind that there isn't really much of a definite Marvel movie strategy planned for after The Avengers.

There are lots of characters' names being bandied about, and a lot of speculation, but to date, there is very little solid information about what the next wave of Marvel Films will contain.
