The cast for The Dark Knight Rises seems to be getting bigger and bigger by the week with some fans complaining/wondering if things are going to be too cramped. Well it looks like things are going to get even more cramped with actor Jeff Hammond tweeting that he is apparently currently in talks with director Christopher Nolan to join the cast of The Dark Knight Rises as another potential villain for the film.

Hammonds acting credits is quite a small list with him only having appeared in Breakout Kings, Black Friday, among a few others.

The Dark Knight Rises stars Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Morgan Freeman, Joseph Gordan-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Josh Pence, Juno Temple, & Matthew Modine.

Ah go 'wayyyy.

Typed "Jeff Hammond actor" into google and got
"Jeff Hammond (also known as Nikos Dicopolous and Chris Hammond), is an American pornographic actor who appeared in gay pornographic movies and magazines in the 1990s"

Splendid.

I think he's either lying, or is just gonna be a minor villain.

Probably a petty thug.. Remember how many "villains" were in The Dark Knight?
You had all the different mob families , their underlings, the Joker, his underlings, the bad cops, and Two-Face. Didn't make the movie feel cramped at all.
This doesn't seem to be any different.

I must say I am only mildly concerned for this movie being cramped. Every Batman film Nolan has done so far has multiple villains. More than Batman Forever, more than Batman & Robin, more than Spider-Man 3.

Batman Begins - Ra's al Ghul/Henri Ducard, Decoy Ra's al Ghul, Crane/Scarecrow, Falcone, Zsasz, Faden, Mr. Earle

The Dark Knight - Lau, Chechen, Gambol, Maroni, Joker, Two-Face, Scarecrow, Wuertz, Ramirez (to a degree), Mr. Reese (also, to a degree)

A lot of these, "so-called" announced villains could quite possibly just be a crooked cop with 2 minutes of fame, some crazed doctor that has some diabolical plan before being crushed by Bane, a politician hellbent on overthrowing Mayor Garcia but loses the race, wants revenge, but is shot and killed by Gordon, etc. The list can go on, and on, and on. It's not like these people are playing Riddler, Penguin, Mad Hatter, and the other rogues gallery villains. They're playing two-bit parts.

The way I see it, these are the following villains/rogues in the film: Bane, Catwoman (not a villain, but a rogue), Nixon, and that mad scientist by Aboutboul. That's not even half of the "villains" in Dark Knight.

Maybe they will have cameos of certain villains in Arkham Asylum, but I don't know.

@Jagfan28 That would be really cool actually! I would love seeing some other villains just as cameos.

If Nolan isn't careful, he's going to be entering 'Batman & Robin' or 'Spiderman III' territory - too many characters and not enough plot/screen time to develop them properly!
PapaEmeritus
PapaEmeritus - 5/31/2011, 5:45 PM
@VicSage, totally agree! I bet [if this is true] for a minor villain, as the chechen in TDK. Mob or politician crook.

I still think that we are going to get a montage of Batman taking down villains. The whole reason that Bane breaks Batman's back is because Bats is exhausted from working non-stop with multiple villains. It will actually be cool to just see glimpses of characters that Batman is taking down. Then Bane will be there when Batman is so tired he can barely stand. Then Bane has the advantage on Batman.

im betting that if there is a third villain that it will be a crime lord (Black Mask, Penguin, etc.)

Relax haters.

Nolan knows what he's doing. This wont be anything bigger than a minor villain. Nolan knows how important it is to not fall into "Batman and Robin" and "Spiderman 3" territory. He said it himself that if he didnt think he could deliver a great film there would be no point in doing a 3rd. People should relax and realize how lucky we are to have a 3rd picture.

OOOOOOOOO, loving it. With a cast like this could The Dark Knight Rises be a 3 hour long movie or a 2 parter? Fingers crossed. The Titanic of superhero films lol.

@Everyone that says there are to many villains. Well remember the Knightfall story Bane unleashes all the villains from Arkham Asylum this tires out Batman from him chasing them all down for a month without sleep. Then Bane comes in to Break him. Bane could not break a fully rested Batman.

drewXdeficit
drewXdeficit - 5/31/2011, 6:42 PM
if this is true, i'm going to go ahead and assume that this film is going to borrow much from the Knightfall storyline, and many of these "villains" will be on screen only a few minutes while Batman chases them down & rounds 'em up into arkham/blackgate. then Bane will exploit Bruce's obsession with ending crime, knowing that he won't rest until the city's safe, and then act.

people Efin kill me with all this complaining about the cast size. ...do people not realize that movies are made with more than 3 ppl in the entire cast??!! lol good grief. ....just because they announce casting doesnt mean its even a character that is significant. But even if it is...Nolan has done right so far with large casts featuring several 'important' characters. people need to stop just trying to find reasons to b*tch. Batman and Robin was bad for many reasons...not just a mishandled/bloated ensemble. It wasnt well written or even conceived and THATS why it came out bad...it was bad from the ground up. ...and Schumacher isn't half the director Nolan is. SO stop comparing the two films/directors.

What if all the extra villains are just cameos/really small roles? Calm down people, you have no idea what this movie's gonna be. Chill...
