Lauren Shuler Donner On Retconning X-MEN: THE LAST STAND; Updates On DEADPOOL

During the UK premier of X-Men: DOFP, HeyUGuys got a chance to talk to the producer about the inbetweenquel and whether or not it will make up for the mistakes made in previous X-films. She also gives an update on the long awaited Deadpool solo film.

Talking to HeyUGuys, Lauren revealed how X-Men: Days Of Future Past would impact the previous films,“Yes, it will be putting that right,” She added “Just forget about X-3! And the first Wolverine; forget about that too!”  Given the ending of DOFP, it all makes sense. It completely erases those events of X-Men: The Last Stand from ever happening which leaves our fellow mutants in an interesting place. On Deapool, the producer said, "“We so want to make it. We’re getting there. I think it will, but one thing now is the rating. If we make it a smaller budget movie, we can go for the R-Rating. If not, then we push the boundaries of PG-13 which is alright too. We just don’t want to saturate the market to the point where it’s just not special anymore.” In other words, we won't be getting a Deadpool movie any time soon. last time we heard Ryan Reynolds was attached to the project. Whether or not he's still attached to the project, remains to be seen. What do you guys think? Do you think the MercWithMouth will ever have his own solo film? Leave your thoughts down in the usual place.

To me after I see DoFP the events after the 60's/(early 70's) within Origins never happened.

Won't be hard for me to ignore X3 either.

screw Ryan Reynolds. Put Nolan North in that suit.

I have to believe that Deadpool will end up being introduced in X-Force first before his own movie at this point. As much as I liked Ryan Reynolds as the pre-Deadpool Wade for the 10 minutes or so he got to play the character, I also think someone else will play him from now on.

THANK YOU Singer for swooping in and cleaning up the mess others made of your franchise. This is the best thing that could possibly happen to the series honestly.

@blacknerd

That's good cause the events of DOFP pretty much erased everything except for the first 20 minutes of Wolverine Origins(which is prolly the only part that's watchable in that movie)

So basically Wade Wilson hasn't became Barakpool!!!

Singer clean up his franchise.

Those bad movies made everyone here hate Singer for no reason

By forgetting these movies, it makes even more of a mess especially to the general audience.

Singer attempted this before with Superman Returns, by choosing to make a semi-sequel to Superman II and forgetting Superman III-IV, like they never happened.

Who else does this? It's so annoying. When a franchise is this confusing and constantly needs retconning, it means one thing. They should REBOOT!

Oh wait, they can't. They want to hold onto their golden gooses (Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, etc.).

I've decided Ryan Reynolds would actually not make a great Deadpool. We need somebody who has an athletic build and a personality like Robin Williams to play Deadpool. We also need Robert Rodriguez to direct or somebody who can make a Machette style movie. R Rated or bust.

ThrotTheUnclean - 5/13/2014, 10:55 AM
PG-13 IS BULLSHIT!!!!!!!! It is not "all right" wtf are you talking about?

If they make it PG-13 then they better shoot the R-rated script and just cut it, then sell the R-rated version on DVD. Because I would not see it theaters.
TelaVizion
TelaVizion - 5/13/2014, 10:57 AM
It's stupid to "erase" what was the best of the original trilogy. So what if Cyclops was missing, he's not needed. Thousands of other mutants out there for them to use in movies.
BlackPhillip
BlackPhillip - 5/13/2014, 10:58 AM
This doesn't make sense. If we are to forget The Last Stand, then are we to also forget The Wolverine since those events occured after X3?

batz11 - 5/13/2014, 10:58 AM
Don't hate, but do you think people are clamoring for a Deadpool film? Maybe if if it's kinda like Kick-Ass, it could do well, just not sure if general audience will go?
Scarilian
Scarilian - 5/13/2014, 11:02 AM
The fact they are literally turning around and telling you to forget the previous films they made just highlights why I hate this series. If its something bad they want you to forget it and watch the next one - theirs no point watching the series when they retcon anything bad.

A PG-13 rating for Deadpool is not alright - he's [frick]ing Deadpool. He swears constantly, he murders people without remorse and he often gets stabbed thousands of times. It wont do the character justice to drop the rating.
