When is it ok to break out the the mega villains

So many powerful(and popular) villains have yet to be in a film, but how delicate should the process be to introduce them in a movie?

Over the past few years I've had to change my opinion on villain selection in movies. I was mad that The Joker wasn't in Batman Begins and I was super hyped to hear about Venom in Spider-Man . What I saw was that batman begins set up the joker plot for the dark knight spot on, and I saw Spiderman 3 messed up Venom from almost every angle, and oh yea, In the second Fanstastic 4, I really like the Silver Surfer, but Galactus, the most powerful villain in the Marvel Universe, was a damn cloud. After seeing all this, it got me thinking, is it really ok to rush the more powerful villains early in movie saga? Also, Is it possible to bring them in too late? All Im saying is villains such as Carnage, Doomsday, Apocolypse, have yet to appear, and if the character process gets rushed we can have another venom situation. I say look at it like this; Iron Man was a great movie and the Mandarin was no where near it, and as of now he shouldn't be in Iron Man 2, but hopefully they set him up for the third installment. In the cases of Fantastic 4 and in X-Men, Dr. Doom and Magneto are a huge part of each of those franchises origins(or as I like to call it, the yin-yang effect, the villain in these cases are literally the yang to the heros yin). Characters like Spider-Man and Batman have the luxury of having multiple villains, TDK brang out the full potential of the Joker, and the franchise has multiple directions for the 3rd, Spider-Man did great with the Green Goblin and Doc Ock, But really, really dropped the ball with harry as the Green Goblin, Sandman, and of course Venom, however, there are plenty of villains(and black cat) to rebound the franchise with, but as I've already written about, they should save Carnage(the big gun in spidey's world) for a later movie.

My overall point is that for all those that just want see heroes go up against every mega villain in each comic movie is misguided. If you read comics you know that alot of these unique and epic plots are triggerd by a series of events, witch in most cases are hard to write in a movie script, but if the story is drawn out right and all the major players are there, it can set up the epic plot that make these mega villains so special, look, do you want them to force a way for superman to fight Darkseid, or have him have to face bizarro or toyman and then set up the next movie for the epic character that is Darkseid??think about it...

Speaking of Darkseid, doesn't heand Thanos look exactly alike???

yes they do look alike, except thanos looks like he's on holiday at mardi gra.

I agree with you man, Galactus as a cloud. when i watched the movie and i heard the silver surfer say that galactus is coming, i remember the hairs on the back of my neck standing up. Then you get to the end of the movie and you see earth being enveloped by a fecking cloud, i was super ultimate pissed, and then he blows up. i dont know what dumbass came up with that idea.

As for darksied, i agree that villains like him shouldn't be rushed, but how many superman films have we had? how many more lex induced saga are we expected to sit through? how many more bastard childs is superman going to have to spawn before he thorws it down with the big dawg's? I'm not having a go dude, just trying to spark a debate, Love the article by the way, it had to be said.

Hey its me again and just to burst ur bubble they kinda hint Mandarin in Iron Man i wrote a article about it lol it was pointless but ur rite they should save the good villians till the movies are at their prime.

THEY RUINED GALACTUS, I HATE CLOUDS NOW i remeber telling my friend how the movie was gunna end, in a cliff hanger with Galactus shown at the end of the movie instead its."Uhhhhhh guys movie comes out this friday and we dont have Galactus done yet..... Another man " Hey guys on the way in here i saw a cloud that looked JUST LIKE GALACTUS ...... :(

Spider-man 3 pretty much ruined Venom. They shouldnt bring in Carnage cause i think they would ruin him most likely. lol

hate to burst ur bubble shakebake(this is all in good fun by the way:), but the manderin "hint" about the ten rings was more of an easter egg than having anything to do with bringing him in the story line, but im pretty sure there is going to be a serious hint though in ironman 2.

@shakebake....lol dude, that probably is how they decided to make galactus a cloud. Or maybe they watched lord of the rings and thought that the clouds above mount doom looked scary and thought "why not turn galactus into a cloud and make a brief silouette of galactus appear in the center of it", fecking idiots. You can imagine that the guys at marvels head dropped when they saw that.

As for carnage, i think he could transfer well provided a few decision are made:

1. Get rid of the director, he sucks, his vision of spidey is that of 3 year old.."oh no the bad guys got my wife/mum/whatever i must stop him, BANG, take that count evil, errrrrhhhrreeeh i'm dying, you saved me - i love captain hero, ONCE AGAIN THE WORLD IS SAFE."

2. Sony need to realise that they wouldn't even have a spiderman franchise if we never bought the comics in the first place, you give a little you get a little, we gave sony spiderman we would like a decent adaptation in return.

3. Re-cast - i'm not saying the cast was bad i just they need to freshen things up. Emily Blunt for MJ, just thinking out loud.

Yeah Darkseid and Thanos look alot alike, except Thanos is cooler. And more powerful. You better look it up before you challenge me on that.

@myth, Last time i checked thanos destroyed the universe and brought it back, also, death is infactuated with him so he cant die, so thanos is way more powerful than darkseid by a long shot,I always just found it funny how similar they look.

Galactus was too big a character to introduce. Darkseid would need at least two films worth of build up. Thanos would never happen unless they make a silver surfer flick.

yeah they really do look alike. and i seriously think spidey needs a reboot i am tired of the whole MJ peter story line do Peter and gwen or bring in black cat and have peter go ga ga over her and then bring in MJ also i said it before and i will say it again sony turned spidey into the 1990's batman movies where every movie the villain died or was clincially insane (once again i am talking to you mr. jim carrey). the galatcus thing pissed me off in Fantastic Four 2 i mean come on i was waiting what was it like two years for the big purple planet eater and what happens he is a fricking cloud. what was the retared monkey writing the script out of bananas when he made galatcus a cloud. oh and to superman please one movie without lex luther would be great!

"Yeah Darkseid and Thanos look alot alike, except Thanos is cooler. And more powerful."

I can't argue with that... But Darkseid would still win! Thanos' weakness is his subconscious. (How emo is that?) If Darkseid is good at anything, it is getting inside your head.
