Is Anyone Else Sick Of Tony Stark Being So Integral In The Marvel Cinematic Universe?

Let me explain...

Let me put it this way, I dont like that Tony Stark is so involved with everything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe... and it is pretty clear (for me anyway) that one of the only reasons is that Marvel wants to build an interconnected universe, so they are just using what they have so far to buiild it.

I understand that Robert Downey Jr./Tony Stark is the posterboy for The Avengers lead up films, but I feel like EVERYTHING points back to Tony Stark. I understand Thor and Cap have both been referenced in Iron Man 2, but look...

So far we know...

1. Stark has a Captain America S.H.I.E.L.D prototype, and coincidentally Tony's father happened to know Steve Rogers, and it is strongly rumored Howard Stark made the shield for Cap.

2. The Iron Man 2 Blu-ray reveals that Tony Stark was involved with the Gamma Radiation experiment that turned Bruce Banner into The Incredible Hulk.

3. Stark is now presumably helping put The Avengers together, with help from General Ross hinted.

4. Annoyingly, in the Thor Comic-Con trailer it shows a scene of Clark Gregg's Agent Coulson being asked if the Destroyer is one of Starks inventions. I am sorry, but isnt that a little random to ask at a time like that? It obviously is just there to promote The Avengers.

I dont mean to sound like a nitpicker, but I just hate that Tony Stark and even the Stark family is so involved with seemingly everything in these films so far. I wish they would maybe introduce certain new characters to be behind these things, how much could Tony Stark have done anyway?

One of the major problems with Stark being so invovled with all this stuff is it takes away some of the realism (with a HUGE world like the MARVEL UNIVERSE, you would think a single man no matter if he was TONY STARK or PETER PARKER would not have so much to do with the other characters) and also, using Stark all the time takes away from the opportunities to introduce new characters that could help expand this universe.

What is next, Stark made the "Iron Fist" and he also made Ultimo? Uh....

I think Tony Stark Being So Integral In The Marvel Cinematic Universe is one of the lesser problems of the universe myself!

I think the only reason it's happening is becase Iron Man was the first of the characters to get a movie and they are using it to set everything up. I guarantee had Thor or Cap been first, the same thing would have happened, just in different ways. It has to be done.

I think Marvel is banking on the prediction that the world will end at the end of 2012. They're putting together as many unrealistic connections as possible for their Avengers movie. Might as well right? I will say this: I will be a little disappointed when I wake up in 2013 and the world is still here.

ecksmanfan is right. The only one that bugs me is the gamma machine one. Banner is smart enough to do that all by himself. Coulson's comments in Thor make total sense considering the movies so far, plus, its pretty funny I think. Once the universe is further along and some more geniuses are introduced Stark will become less central.

ecksman nailed it.

Also, Stark is a pretty central character in the comics world. Just this month Stark is featured in: his own title (duh); Incredible Hulks 314; Amazing Spider-Man 641; and Avengers 5. And, that's just from my stack this month. Stark is a central character to Marvel, cinematic or otherwise.

watch the next two films first then complain. I have no idea why anyone would complain about an awesome character played by an even better actor being the connecting factor in all of these. i mean Tony Stark is pretty freakin damn important character no matter what medium he's in. there's no other way. it's perfect.

I love the tie-ins, every single one of them. Finally something resembling the Comics is actually starting to take shape.

in the Thor footage he asked if it is starks because he wasn't sure if he should attack it. Honestly I completely disagree. Everything is linked back to stark so far because he is the only one(other then hulk who has several easter eggs) with a big franchise. Like ecksmanfan said if cap or thor came first it would be the same for them

Have you read the comics? At a point he even was the head honcho of SHIELD, which is practically everything MARVEL lol. Sorry i disagree with everything you've stated, in fact it is all necessary for the Marvel Universe.

I have no problem with it at all, plus it's not like they can say it was Reid Richards or anything because they don't own the rights to characters like that. There's only a finite number of characters that Marvel can choose from, sure there's heaps of characters in the Marvel universe but on a few have such major impacts and of those few Marvel owns the rights to a handful.

um...Tony Stark IS one of the most integral characters in the comics, so this is hardly a stretch. I don't see the problem.

This guy ran SHIELD, was one of the leading avengers, redesigned Spider-Mans suit, sent Hulk into space, played a central role in Civil War and Secret Invasion ....Basically, he was Marvel's most integral character over the last decade. I'd say its only fitting that he be central to the avengers tie in.

is there anyway this could be deleted? quite possibly the dumbest thing I've ever read. Tony Stark, as someone already pointed out, becomes the freaking director of S.H.I.E.L.D., among other things, so of course he's going to be integral in the marvel universe. aye yi yi. plus RDJ is the freaking king, haha.

As several have already pointed out, Tony Stark/Iron Man is not only an intergral part of the Marvel Cine-verse, but is a huge and important cornerstone of the comic-verse.

Don't come on here and call yourself a comic book fan, when the only knowledge you have of these characters is from the movies. You are difinitely nitpicking, and its a totally uneducated nitpick. Of course someone would ask if as mysterious suit of srmor that appeared outta nowhere is "one of Starks", considering he's the damn guy who makes armored suits! What else would you ask? If this was the real world, and there was a real Tony Stark, and the destroyer armor showed up, the only question a government official(which, btw, the government had been trying for years to get the armor from Stark)would ask is "Is it one of Stark's?"

My only complaint is Stark's involvement in the gamma bomb, but, at the same time, that makes sense, too. Considering that stark was the end all be all weapons manufacturer for the military, he of course would be the funding behind the gamma bomb. Its just never really been covered in the comics, at least not until now.

I agree with mydixiewrecked. Delete the stupidity that is this post.
