Stephen Amell Hints At A Dark Archer/Ra's Al Ghul Confrontation In ARROW S03E04?

At Stephen Amell's Salt Lake Comic Con panel, the Arrow star teased the payoff of a confrontation that's been building for approximately 2.5 years, which will finally play out in S03E04, "The Magician".

During Stephen Amell's Salt Lake City Comic Con panel, he shared some interesting info about the show's 50th episode. Said Amell-

"Last night, I watched the director's cut for episode 304 and it was awesome. It is our 50th episode, it is worthy of a 50th episode. It has a scene and a confrontation in it that has literally been 2.5 years in the making."

When the title of this particular episode was announced, ("The Magician")  it was immediately speculated that the show could be introducing Zatanna or some other magical DC Comics character. But executive producer Marc Guggenheim quickly dissuaded that notion, clarifying that the title refers to John Barrowman's Malcolm Merlyn, who is currently presumed dead by most of the characters on the show. One, long-running plot point throughout Arrow has been what happened to Malcolm when he went to Nanda Parbat to train with the League of Assassins and how he escaped thier ranks to carry out his nefarious plan during Season One. Given the way Barrowman's character has tensed up during the last two seasons at the mere mention of Ra's Al Ghul and the "League", it's probably safe to assume that he didn't leave Nanda Parbat on good terms with Ra's.

I thought Ra's al Ghul was more of a "Batman" villain.

@MightZues he definitely is. Arrow is aka Batman-Lite haah. I love it but they tend to use Batmans mythology and rogues A LOT.

If he calls Green Arrow "detective", I will toss my tv out the window and never watch this show again! That is a title reserved for two individuals: Bruce Wayne and Tim Drake!!!

Just kidding..........I'll be slightly disappointed. Unfortunately, I will have to share my disappointment with the world. That means lots of Batman/Green Arrow mash-up jokes. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!!!

I hate that they pronounce his name that way. It's RAICHE AL GOOL. FUKKIN NOLAN.

Its criminal the lack of respect WB shows Green Arrow. He is good enough to let CW rape his mythology but he can't be part of the movie universe?!

It really should not be "Raiche" or "Raish". I know people want it to be (including the character's creator), but it sounds wrong. It sounds about as right as it would sound if Bob Kane decided that Batman should be pronounced "Baithman".

And I believe I wanted to stop commenting on this, because these discussions rarely lead anywhere.

Pretty much guaranteed to be a confrontation between Ra's and Malcolm in this episode. It would be cool if Sarah and Nyssa were involved. Right now, my expectation is for the season to end with Malcolm sacrificing himself to stop Ra's and Oliver taking the Green Arrow name to remember him even though it's "lame".

Lets face it...GA doesnt really have much of a rogues gallery outside of Merlyn, Vertigo and Onomatopoeia (he better be introduced soon)...who else you gonna use? Flash's rogues? Captain Marvel's? ....stop bitchin' about it already..

I'm ready for some more Dark Archer NON-ISLAND related back story. Like the Oscorp in the Spidey movies, not everything needs to be tied to the island and/or Mirakuru.

@newmutantsRETURNS Green Arrow has quite a few rouges actually. Count Vertigo and Merlyn being the biggest for sure, but there are for sure others. Cupid, Komodo (who are both coming to Arrow this season), Deathstroke and Dr. Light (shared rouges, but certainly still part of his rouges gallery), Brick (who was mentioned via "The List"), China White, Clock King (originally a GA villain), Onomatopoeia, Constantine Drakon, Natas, Rainbow Archer, Eddie Fyers, the Seattle Slasher, Everyman (also mentioned on "The List"), the League of Assassins (not necessarily Ra's al Ghul himself since he's a Batman villain, but the League for sure), Electrocutioner, Prometheus (a JLA villain but with a personal connection to GA), Lady Shiva (though more a BC villain than GA), and Bull's Eye (who I think deserves a reboot).

So, it actually pains me to see so many Batman villains on the show because Arrow has an extensive rouges gallery of his own that he could easily pull from. I'm glad they AT LEAST introduced Merlyn, Count Vertigo (with another on the way), Deathstroke, and the League of Assassins. That at least makes it more Green Arrow than Batman.

@micvalpro.. it's NOT RAICHE.. it's RAS. ask any person from an Arab speaking country to say "the demons head" and you'll see. Nolan actually did research on it before he used it. Even Neal Adams said they didn't verify the pronunciation until years later which is why we have the Raiche/Raas confusion going on. It's not hard to verify things like this. Cos it's a language that is very much alive.

@HeadPool420

We already had official Ra's casting news here a while back, based on a tweet or so from Amell. He's going to be played by... some dude. I honestly forgot who it was, I didn't know him. But the news was there. (^_^)'
