Jonathan And Christopher Nolan Not Involved With DC Superhero Slate

Christopher Nolan was involved on the peripheral of Man of Steel while Jonathan Nolan was not involved at all. Perhaps one or both will return for one of the 11 upcoming DC Comics superhero films following Batman v Superman? Probably not.

With 11 DC Comics superhero films, coming down the pipeline after Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it would be a fanboys dream to have the creative minds behind The Dark Knight trilogy return to, at the very least, shepherd a project or two. Sadly, it appears that Jonathan and Christopher Nolan's time with superheroes is at an end. At the press junket for Interstellar, Coming Soon got the confirmation from Jonathan.

"I love those guys [at WB/DC Entertainment] and my brother was involved in ‘Man of Steel’ with Zack [Snyder] and David [Goyer]. [But] I kind of feel like that chapter for us is closed."

It's definitely a new day and direction at Warner Bros. During the heyday of The Dark Knight trilogy, there was a time when Batman and/or his Rogue's Gallery were not allowed to be used in any other medium, be it film, television or animation. Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara definitely has a clear vision for the film studio and that definitely includes competing with Marvel Studios in the superhero box office race.  But if Tsujihara is Ike Permultter, then who will be WB's Kevin Feige?  Geoff Johns appears to fill that role on the DC Comics television adaptations but doesn't appear to be wearing that same conductor hat on the film side.  There were rumors that David S. Goyer would be filling the Kevin Feige role but that doesn't appear to be the case.  And now, you can scratch either Nolan from the list of potential candidates as well.  But Jonathan does say the door isn't fully closed on a return to superhero theatrics, "later down the line....maybe."

Good for them. I'd rather they continuously grow and make new and different things than have them constantly stuck with these comicbook properties.

Good for them. Nolan, both of them, have had a long run with making TDK trilogy its about time they move on.

WHO EVEN SAID THEY'RE INVOLVED?

Don't get me wrong i am a big fan of Nolan. i think what they did in their Batman trilogy was great, but now let other guys deal with DC. let them shape up what they want for DC

Nolan is in a whole new dimension of awesomeness.

Good!! The TDK Trilogy was good and it helped the genre but I wasn't impressed with TDKR at all.

Can't wait to finally see a more comic based Batman on the big screen. We could possibly finally see Bane w/ venom, Hush, Poison Ivy, Freeze, Scarecrow, Hugo Strange, Clayface, The real Ra's

and we could finally get a comic book representation of The Joker on the big screen. Loved what Ledger did but I can't wait to see The Joker on screen again and with more comic influence

This news makes me happy. It's time for WB to move on from the Nolan era of DC movies.

His dark, grounded, and realistic approach to superheroes is dated.

I respect Nolans body of work and rep for putting out movies that are certified box office gold. With that being said, Nolan needs to be as far away from fantastical comic book movies as he can. Give me a genius bad ass of a Batman that can do the impossible, not some chump that cant even tie his own shoes without Alfreds guidance.

Some will be devasted, while others will be relieved. I, on the other hand, just want great movies, and, it doesn't matter who is making them. I can say that I am excited over the potential of a less Nolan-esque type Batman and one that more closely emulates the comic book version. But, that's me...

And David Goyer is busy with Constantine, so he won't be working on any DC movies in the near future, which is a good thing.

^ Damn, you need to add some type of punctuation before you start slinging around the word "retarded" in a heap of incohesive gobbledygook.

After the clusterf*ck and laughingstock that was The Dark Knight Rises...consider this a win for WB/DC.

Look, Christopher Nolan saved the Batman film franchise after B&R killed it(I will always be grateful for that).

The TDK trilogy is solid IMHO. It's time to move on though.

Man of Steel was 1.5/5

Nolan doesn't make realistic movies, gritty yes but not realistic. There's nothing realistic about Inception, The Prestige, The Following or even TDK trilogy itself.

Nolan was smart enough to understand that the tone for Man of Steel was all wrong.

A shame he never worked on expanding a cinematic universe for his Batman trilogy.

Could have been awesome.

Good. While good director, Nolan is obsessed with "realism". I want comic book Batman that is genius inventor, detective and world class martial artist.

Why would they be? Nolan had a take on the Batman, WB decided they needed a different one and recast Bale. To me, that looks like WB ditched them, not the other way around
StrangeBatch
StrangeBatch - 10/25/2014, 4:05 AM
DC need to stop relying on him to bring some extra cash in.

Why was his name in the Man of Steel trailer? Because it'll sell more tickets.

Nolan is a great director. But allowing Christian Bale and Tom Hardy to overdue their mangled voices and allowing Christian Bale to do his uh...shitty Muay Thai...for his fight scenes was not cool. Plus Nolan can't shoot a fight scene to save his life.
StrangeBatch
StrangeBatch - 10/25/2014, 4:10 AM
lol k @MantiniuMan

this is coming from the universe where superman bashes zod up against buildings for 3 hours without injury...but a neck snap can finish it

And it was obvious that Nolan completely checked out of the superhero game after he did Inception and only did the final Batman movie so WB would fund the movie he had really wanted to do (Interstellar) funny thing was after WB fired Jeff Robinov he took his ball and went to Paramount to do Interstellar.
