While attending the MCM London Comic Con, celebrated Cowboy Bebop and Space Dandy creator Shinichiro Watanabe, updated the status of the live-action Cowboy Bebop movie currently in development at 20th Century Fox. Back in 2011, progress on the film came to a halt and then-attached Spike Spiegel actor Keanu Reeves said the project was dead and that he was too old to play Spike. With that development happening over three-years ago, perhaps the project is finally prepared to move forward in the wake of the success of Edge of Tomorrow? Here's what Shinichiro has to say on the live-action Bebop movie---

(translated)"I'm afraid I don't know what they're thinking in Hollywood. Apparently the project hasn't come to a stop but I don't know how it's going to progress from here on. I hear that there are a lot of "Hollywood" problems."

So the live-action Cowboy Bebop movie isn't dead yet, more like, it's in a non-responsive, vegetable state. Moving on the possibility that the Cowboy Bebop anime could continue on in some way, Shinichiro shared---

(translated)"As I always say, I have no plans to [continue the Cowboy Bebop anime] at the moment. If I ever were to make more Cowboy Bebop, [it] would be because I thought I could do better [than] last time. If I feel that way, I might make more but I don't know when that would happen."

It's kinda impossible to continue Cowboy Bepop considering the way it ended.

I would've thought that Manga/anime would be the next genre to blow up from the success of CBMs.

I wonder if we will ever have a anime era like how comics doing right now.

If the anime era ever starts, it should start with Cowboy Bebop.

One of my favorite anime's of all time. I am afraid that a good director like Duncan jones can not even do this incredible series justice.

@SpiderFraud It's bound to happen...I hope. Give me Bleach, Naruto, Hitman Reborn, or, Blue Exorcist done justice in live action. I need that in my lifetime.

I would like to see a Cowboy Bebop Live-Action movie.
It's one of the few anime which is appropriate for such a transition.
The other anime on my list are: Ghost in the Shell, Ergo Proxy, Perfect Blue, Baccano!, Black Lagoon, Darker Than Black and AnoHana.

Yeah I think Cowboy Bebop's last few episodes made it clear that there ain't going to be a follow-up.
Even "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" movie was just an inbetweenquel of the show.

I wish both of these would happen! Cowboy Bebop stands as my all time favorite Anime! The end was so bitter sweet.
I hope he does decide to make more

Seriously anime films could make a ton at the box office as well if they were taken seriously and done right. A Dragon Ball Z film series done by WB could break records if done right.

@MarkJulian The only complaint I have about it is there isn't enough of it. So, you saw it and didn't like it?

Also, this genre would have benefitted greatly from a shared universe IMO.

Where can I get my Cowboy Bebop fix? I haven't seen this show in a while. Cowboy Bebop, Inuyasha, Gundam Wing, Wolf's Rain and DBZ would be the ones I would love to see done in live-action.

Give Berserk to Guillermo Del Toro and let him make a masterpiece out of it! Or maybe Attack on Titan, just give the man something gritty and violent!

@MarkJulian Yeah, I'll admit it does start off kinda slow (too many filler episodes), but, for me, the payoff was worth it. I like the character dynamics and the general plot. I was invested in the journey of the main character by midseason.

But, the movie is a great example of where the show was going IMO. And the art is so much better too. If you ever got an hour and a half to kill, check it out.

Easily one of the best animes ever created. However, it needs to remain just that. Live action movies based on animes have a poor track record. I'd hate to see Bebop get the Dragonball Evolution treatment.
