Their lives are changed forever when a "Colossal Titan" breaches the wall protecting their town, leading to thee death of Eren's mother. This is what happens when Japanese anime always draws their characters to look like Europeans, or actually BE White people then tries to do live action with blonde/red hair wigs and blue eyed contacts or strictly Japanese actors.

It looks weird.

They really need to redefine the style of anime to better reflect the actual look of the people in Japan that star in them, don't use the 'it's just a style' we prefer crutch, and stop inundating everything they do with White people or racially ambiguous characters that are supposed to be Japanese. It's starting to come across as a racial inferiority complex.

Kyos - Well it's made in Japan, so we can't really expect some European cast members.

I like the anime and was surprised to see this being made into live action. My first response was cool. I didn't give a rat's ass about all of them being asian. I mean it's Japanese made so why can't they have their native actors in it? So all the movies should always be European?White? Even if it's an Asian country making the films? wow.

Seems cool. Haven't had a chance to sit down and an episode. Looks like it could be intense.

But the show seems to be set in some kind of post-Titan Europe/Germany. Of all the characters only Mikasa is clearly Asian. I can't work with this. :(

I'm laughing at people being mad that they cast Japanese actors for a movie made in Japan. Isn't the go-to defense for everytime someone complains about the lack of diversity in Hollywood CBMs "Well it' an American movie so of course they're going to cast white Americans!"

I get that it makes sense for a Japanese production to have Japanese actors. Sadly in this case it's just not working well with the source material. Luckily I can just continue with the anime and not care about this. :)

@Dandy

Well, I think at least the first two titans in the commercial are simply actors with heavy makeup. And it's not a movie, it's a car commercial.

Question for you guys:

I watched one episode of the show, it didn't seem terrible. Does the show have that typical anime garbage "humor" thing, where the characters get big eyes, yell in obnoxious high pitched voices, and act like kids for no reason? Or is it a straight up cool, serious type show?
