COMICS: Marvel Titles Dominate The 2014 Top Seller List

The list of 2014's best-selling comic issues was dominated by Marvel. In fact, 9 of the 10 titles are from Marvel, with 4 of the slots going to The Death of Wolverine miniseries from Charles Soule. Image's The Walking Dead managed to snag a single spot, while DC Comics failed to crack the top 10.

Diamond Comics Distributors has released their annual list of the year's best selling comic book titles and nine out of the ten slots were Marvel titles.  The lone non-Marvel title was Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead #132.  DC Comics managed to secure 29% Dollar Share of the Market (to Marvel's 34%) but failed to have an individual title crack the top 10.  However, whenver having this type of discussions regarding comic book sales comes up, it's important to remember that all of Marvel's flagship titles are released twice-a-month, whereas DC only released their titles once-a-month.

literally it's only an opinion an I choice no company more than the other I enjoy both............ I dunno if you guys have read them but not what they could've been an wolverine just sells cause he's wolverine ............. like I said spidey verse is a interesting twist goin with morlan killing all versions of him but the other titles even twd slow down a bit . just surprise no DC book cracked 10

Not surprised Marvel is been dominating comic sales for a while now. September was the only month DC outsold Marvel.

Most Marvel titles sell twice a month. DC only releases once a month. In reality, Marvel should be outpacing DC by a larger margin.

Sorry, but these "sales figures" are what was sent to comic shops, not what customers actually purchased. Comic publishers need to be much more honest about what is selling, because it is screwing up that actual books themselves trying to appeal to retailers instead of readers. This is bull, and is what is killing comic books.

@MarkJulian Your logic is flawed. Economical laws of supply and demand suggest that dc should be outpacing Marvel in all actuallity due to the fact that theirs is a monthly product thus building a more needy demand due to shorter supply. They're called books buddy, try reading one.

Anyone else think it has alittle to do with Marvel killing one of there if not the most popular character they have and we didn't even think this was possible so of course everyone went out and got Death of Wolverine

ASM ([frick] Peter Parker) and Original Sin definitely don't deserve to be on here. That said Superior Spidey and Death of Wolverine were pretty damn good.

False. Most Marvel title DON'T sell twice a month. As far as I know, the only title that ships twice a month is Amazing Spider-Man. Maybe some event books ship twice a month, but that's rare.

Don't know what your point is becaause DC is putting out several titles (Batman Eternal, New 52-Future's End) that ship 4 TIMES a month.

You're point makes no sense since the only measure is the # of books that sell during the 12 months regardless of release schedule.
