Is it titled Fear the Walking Dead? Or is the pilot episode titled Fear the Walking Dead and the show will be called something else? No one is sure at this point, but regardless of what The Walking Dead spinoff is called, it has finished filming its pilot. Executive producer Gale Anne Hurd shared to the audience in attendance at Loyola Marymount University's School of Film & Television Hollywood Masters lecture series, Hurd revealed that filming was completed on February 6th. However, she added that AMC has not yet picked up the show to series. Hurd also shared as a spinoff of televisions' most watched program, it's hard to imagine AMC passing.

The cast for the spinoff includes Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey. Adam Davidson is directing the pilot. A release date has not been confirmed but the show is expected to air sometime in 2015. The spinoff is thought to be a prequel which recounts the early days of the zombie epidemic and the fall of civilization.

This spinoff is going to be so much better than TWD based off the two leads alone.

I love The Walking Dead to death (wacka wacka wacka) but honestly I'm not liking this spinoff thing. Who knows, maybe it'll be good, but it just feels like they're trying to keep the series new and relevant instead of focusing on making the current one better.

Hopefully they won't be so scared to continuously thin out their cast instead of letting it grow like my most recent infection

How will this show be different? Will it actually have dialogue, or something?

I still think the pilot is the best episode of the series.

@LoudLon - "Whatever you do, AMC, keep Scott Gimple away from it. He's already demolished one Walking Dead show"

Hell, why not bring back Frank Darabont to be show-runner for the spin-off??

@xIRONICxNAMEx

I think part of the reason I like the show less is watching one episode a week vs watching multiple episodes in a row. I watched the first couple seasons on Netflix to catch up, so the slower, "filler" episodes, especially during season two, didn't really standout because I had more epis to watch.

Now when there's a slow filler episode, like Sunday's epi, it's noticeable and sucks because I have to wait a week, hopefully, for a good episode. Plus, it annoys me how illogical they are sometimes. To me, I think by now they should or would be as clever about the walkers as they are about trusting other survivors.
For instance, the barn from last week bothered me. The barn door was partially ajar with one locked chain keeping walkers from getting in, why didn't they better barricade the door before feeling safe/comfortable enough to build a fire or go to sleep?? Hershel did a better job in season two barricading a hoard of walkers in his barn. Also, the barn appeared to have three floors, since the barn door was partially ajar, why didn't they barricade or block of the steps?? Even if walkers made it thru the door, they would still be safe on the second floor or on the third floor which I assume is the hayloft.

And now with the group traveling by foot, why the f*ck aren't they using Michonne's camouflage trick with walkers?!?

I mean during the day they have the camouflage walkers at the front and back of their group. Then at night they use the camo walkers to set-up a perimeter around their camp so threatening walkers are less likely to attack. It's just lazy and frustrating how their survival skills haven't really evolved.

this series just need to end, with them finding a cure or anything, not stretching the story ad infinitum.

I have hope for the spinoff. Frank Darabont is back as executive producer.

@VictorHugo
The threat is mostly over in the comics. They've learned to corral the dead herds like cattle. They have towns connected by roads and patrolmen on horseback. Rick plans to eventually form an army to try and exterminate the walkers. Kirkman probably wants to end his series Conan-style with old silverhaired Rick sitting on a throne.

@ImKennyPowers I get all that, but to me I just deal with it (I binged watched seasons 1-2 so I get the filler episode shit. I still like the filler episodes though, just how I am. Im a story freak so finding out the in between goin ons is just as important to me as the fun gory action.

I wonder if it'll air in the summertime? That'd fill the void between seasons of "The Walking Dead." I'm down to check it out.

yeah i'm starting to grow tired of the walking dead...the whole "analysis of the human condition" bit has worn thin. Stuff needs to actually "happen" in the show. That's why the Merle, Govenor, Terminus story lines worked. We frickin' get it, people are more dangerous than walkers.
