Before Arrow took a (second) midseason hiatus from television airwaves, Oliver Queen had impressed Ra's Al Ghul to such a great extent he offered Oliver the opportunity to become his successor and the next leader of The League of Assassins? How Oliver responds to this offer will define the remaining episodes of season 3 according to the show's producers.  Speaking to TVLINE, Andrew Kreisberg stated, "Oliver is completely — as hopefully the audience is — taken aback, ’cause he was not expecting Ra’s al Ghul’s overture.  It was something that [executive producers] Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim and I talked about: It was important to have a different villain this year and somebody who is going to be doing something completely different.  [Oliver's response] makes up the bulk of the next run of episodes."

As to the fate of Malcolm Merlyn, apparently there's a chance that 'The Magician' will escape Nanda Parbat.  According to Kreisberg, Malcolm offers Oliver some counsel on Ra's offer, which would indicate that Malcolm is still alive.  Unsurprisingly, the counsel that Malcolm offers Oliver is the fact that what Ra's is offering, "he isn't really asking."  Ra's al Ghul is not a man you say no to and expect to walk away unscathed.

And how does Nyssa al Ghul (Katrina Law) react to Ra's offer to Oliver as she was expected to inherit Ra's title?  Said Kreisberg, "Nyssa is the Heir to the Demon, so you can imagine how she feels when she finds out that what she considered to be her birthright is being handed to Oliver."  Guggenheim further teased that, "From Nyssa’s perspective, [Ra's offer to Oliver] has everything to do with [Nyssa's romantic relationship with Sara]. From Ra’s perspective? Maybe, maybe not." Guggenheim also added, "One of the things we reveal in [Episode] 320 is where the name The League of Assassins came from and what it means to be an ‘assassin.’ If you’re a historian, you know it has a different meaning than what it’s become in the modern day."

Arrow returns with all new episodes, Wednesday, March 18th at 8PM On The CW.

Season 3 has been mediocre so far. This doesn't really assure me it will get better

i don't watch Arrow, i don't watch Flash, wasn't interested in Smallville, stoped watching AOS after six or seven episodes, stoped watching Gotham because of the brake.
But i surely will watch Daredevil when it will come out.

anyway i'm not into Arrow world. I tried to read Kevin Smith (i think it was Kevin Smith) Arrow adventure but i just gave up. Flash doesn't look good to me. The costume sucks. But i think they got his rogues gallery right. The are really looking like 4th or 5th grade criminals. waiting for JLA Flash. Aim higher.

They've teased us with Harley Quinn...which means Joker exists in this world of Arrow...which means Batman exists in this world of Arrow...which means RAS AL GHUL is making the offer to the wrong guy...or he's an idiot.

"The Green Arrow you know, proboly from watching the JLA cartoon, was NEVER like that in the comics."

I admit I haven't read a Green Arrow comic in my life. My image of the character does come from the amazing JLU cartoon, as well as the highly entertaining DC Showcase short, and pretty much every other animated appearance I've seen. If all those are nothing like the comics ever were... too bad, I wouldn't know.

Also I have to agree with all who aren't too excited about Arrow S3. I especially thought they handled the whole "Death of Oliver" part pretty badly. Ra's as the villain doesn't do as much for me as I'd hoped. The flashbacks aren't really doing anything for me either. Manu Bennet's shortlived return only reminded me how much his presence improved my enjoyment of S2.

And I have come to like most of the cast, including the somehow now often disliked Felicity. Routh as Palmer is a great addition. I'm mostly feeling sorry for Amell about S3 not being recieved all that well (especially in the light of Flash getting all that praise). He's a really good guy, and extremely dedicated to the role and the show. I hope things will turn out for the best!

this season has been worth it for the Flash team up and the boxing glove arrow alone.

Based on everything I've seen you post on this site I would never for one second assume you didn't have vastly superior knowledge of pretty much all superhero comics compared to me. You're a gorram scholar, man, I learn a lot about this stuff reading your posts.

Still I can only go by the things I know personally, and that's not the Arrow Oliver Queen (so far). Although especially the first of your points is something I do attribute to the character I know from the cartoons. But even that isn't my problem at all.

I've come to accept that Arrow Oliver Queen isn't the Green Arrow I know (yet) a while ago. That's fine, I can live with that perfectly. It's just that the things they're doing with him right now aren't all that appealing to me in their own right.
