A Live-Action STAR WARS Show Is Today's Hot New Rumor

"A galaxy far, far away..." may soon be coming to a television screen near you. A live-action Star Wars television show is reportedly in development. Read on for details on how the show would potentially look to match the high-level production values of the new Star Wars trilogy.

According to Cinelinx via /Film, a live-action Star Wars television show is secretly in development which will use the same sets constructed at Pinewood Studios in London.  Reportedly, the show is in a holding pattern until the new Star Wars trilogy and the Star Wars spinoff films are all mapped out.  The television show would then shoot between films, when Pinewood and the Star Wars sets were available.  This plan is sounds fairly similar to Ron Howard's plan for a live-action adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower book series.

This would not be the first time a live-action Star Wars TV show was in the development stage.  Prior to Disney's acquisition of LucasFilm, George Lucas tried in vain to get a live-action Star Wars television program of the ground to no avail.  Following Disney's purchase, ABC (owned by Disney) president Paul Lee stated that a Star Wars television program would be something the network would definitely consider.  Perhaps those considerations are close to approaching a tangible reality?  Consider this a rumor for now but expect the many Hollywood trade scoopers to begin investigations to confirm or debunk without delay.

Shit. You can't put "live-action adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower" in a sentence without preparing us. Even if it doesn't mean anything, geez, i almost had an heart attack.

I've always wanted to see a live action Star Wars show. I dont think this would've worked in the 80's. It might have been too much like Star Trek. The effects might not have been so good. With the way technology is, now would be a good time for a show like this,

I was so excited about the other show years ago. Remember when Lucas said it was just too ambitious and expensive for tv. Has that changed now? Hmm....

Huh.

Not sure how I feel about this.

But I like the fact that they are concerned with matching the production value of the show with the movies. If it looks good, and they've got GOOD stories, I'd be down with it!

@MexicanSuperman

Do what they did originally. Use Lucas' concepts, but have someone who actually knows how to write human beings do the script itself.

Sounds amazing. I just theorized the other day after the announcement of Rogue One and the Episode 8 release date that this wasn't far down the pipeline and I'd love to see it. A companion to AoS on Tuesday would be great but naturally any night I'll watch religiously.

I don't see why this couldn't happen. The SFX on that show would be minimum, aside from spiffy sets, of course. That would make it a not-so-expensive show and viable to be put on the small screen

I don't mind Star Wars shows or spin off films as long as they are good.

Clone Wars (both of them) were awesome and I hated on Rebels when it was announced but it turned out great!

I just hope there's a Old Republic film or show in the works.
