The STAR WARS Anime You Never Knew You Needed

The STAR WARS Anime You Never Knew You Needed

Check out this meticulously crafted, fan-made Star Wars anime that captures the essence of TIE fighting in classic anime style. The twist is that the anime short imagines the Star Wars conflict from the perspective of Empire supporters.

This Star Wars anime is a true labor of love as it took animator Paul Johnson four years, working nights and weekends to complete. Zak Rahman supplies the music while Joseph Leyva handled sound effects and audio.  If you have seven minutes to spare, check it out and keep the conversation going in the comment section below.

Official Synopsis from Johnson: What if there was an Empire-focussed short Star Wars animation, drawn with the crazy detail and shading of classic 80s anime that's all but vanished from Japan nowadays? Well, I tried my best. Apologies in advance for not living up to Venus Wars standards. Drawn and animated by yours truly over 4 years' worth of weekends, with music by the living guitar solo Zak Rahman and sound design by up and coming audio technician Joseph Leyva. Fans of Lucasarts' seminal 1994 TIE Fighter game may notice a few familiar sights and sounds. That “incoming missile” noise gives me horrible flashbacks to this day...

I want to say that this is really old because I've definitely seen at least part of this, but that may have just been a snippet and this is the completed version. Either way, this is awesome.

Never really thought a fan made anime like this was possible given the excellent art and fluid animation required of anime. I can't even imagine pouring four years of my life into a seven minute video, major props to the people who made this!

Saw this before. Can't get thru it now due to the 80s rock music.

This is a couple of years old. I think the difference is that John Williams' music was replaced, probably for copyright reasons.

Really amazing! Love the little easter eggs sprinkled throughout. Was that supposed to be Luke and R2 getting blasted? sure did look like it. No B-wings or A-wings unless i missed them.

That was badass. Congrats to the people who created this fine work of art. Lucasfilm should get behind these people and fund/support a full-length animated feature based on this with some dialogue and official music

@number1hero you are out of your mind! As an animator I have to tell you that the work on this is insane! Seriously if a fan made animation like this doesn't impress you! You have the highest of standards. The mixture of 2d and 3d is flawless! To be honest it has better animation than most of the mainstream 2d animation shows.
