Spoiler Warning:[If you've watched Arrow from the beginning, you're familiar with the fact that Diggle (Ramsey) initially targets Deadshot (Michael Rowe) for a revenge-killing after Deadshot killed his brother, who was also a professional bodyguard. Diggle was under the impression that Deadshot missed his intended target and killed his brother by accident. However, Deadshot informs Diggle, "that he never misses" and his brother was the intended target all along. Diggle later learns that Deadshot was hired by a mysterious organization named H.I.V.E. to assassinate Andy. ]
This particular subplot has been definitely been a slow-burner, taking its time to develop across all three seasons of the show. There's still a lot of mystery around this plot thread that will unfortunately not be resolved in the remaining 5 episodes in season 3. Instead,
H.I.V.E. will play a major role in season 4 according to Ramsey. He tells
E!,
"From my understanding, H.I.V.E. is going to be a big part of next season's big baddie. We are going to delve right into why H.I.V.E. hired Deadshot to kill Andy and what H.I.V.E. is all about to begin with. There will be a lot of Diggle's connection to H.I.V.E. next season so stay tuned."
Last year, Oliver Queen actor Stephen Amell
told fans at Dallas Comic-Con that the show had a five-year plan to tell the
Green Arrow origin story and recap the five-years Oliver was Amell's on Lian Yu. Some fans have interpreted Amell's words to mean that
Arrow will end after five seasons while others speculating that the show won't call him
Green Arrow until after five seasons. However, now that we know that Arrow will be starting the endgame for the H.I.V.E. storyline next season, perhaps season 4 is indeed the penultimate chapter of
Arrow?
Arrow season 3 marches on with all new episodes on
April 15 at 8PM on The CW.
