Is Billy Unger Also A SPIDER-MAN Contender For Marvel?

Marvel Studious has a somewhat funny trend of never picking any of the actors on the shortlist for their title superhero roles. Will Spider-Man follow suit? Is Lab Rats' Billy Unger a dark horse?

In The Wrap's original report on the shortlist to play Spider-Man in Marvel's Captain America: Civil War, they noted that there were other younger actors also in the running besides Nat Wolff, Asa Butterfield, Tom Holland, Timothee Chalamet and Liam James.  Given Marvel's history (Captain America, Star-Lord, etc.) of having an extensive shortlist during casting and then ultimately picking someone NOT on that list, The Wrap wisely gave themselves some wiggle room.

Could the same thing play out with Spider-Man? Fans have noticed that Billy Unger (19), star of Disney XD's Lab Rats, attended the Avengers: Age of Ultron and inexplicably used the hashtag #SpiderMan.  This was days before The Wrap broke their story.

Marvel also went out of their way to highlight Unger's appearance at the premiere.

It's not entirely out of the realm of possibility that Unger is one of the "among others" mentioned in The Wrap's story. The question then becomes, is Unger a serious contender? Spider-Man is set to make his debut in Captain America: Civil War and choose sides between Chris Evans' Captain America and Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man.  Set construction is already underway and filming is expected to begin VERY SOON.

We'll reportedly have our new Spider-Man revealed to the world in the next 2-3 weeks so we'll find out about Unger shortly.

Captain America: Civil War hits theaters on May 6, 2016.

Looks the part. Got no clue who the guy is, though. I trust Marvel with casting. They haven't done wrong in terms of casting so far.

If he gets cast everyone will complain that he's too attractive.

Marvel just can't win in this situation.

Remember when the people who gets the role isnt always in the "top contenders"?

Cumberbatch isnt a top contender, Pratt wasn't. Evans wasn't . Hemsworth wasn't.

Well...

Never seen him act, but he looks the part more than the other ones mentioned, and he does have a martial arts background which could play into the stunts. I'd be cool with this choice.

From reading about him on Wikipedia and checking out his Instagram, he is also an athlete and a martial artist. That may give him an edge if he can do a lot of the action stuff himself.
