Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson Says BLACK ADAM Fueled By Righteous Anger

While promoting San Andreas, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson touched on how he'll portray Black Adam in WB's Shazam movie and reaffirmed his take that the character is not a full on villain.

Having previously revealed that he had the choice of either playing Shazam or Black Adam in WB's Shazam movie, Dwayne Johnson has revealed a little bit of what led to him choosing the villain over the hero.  While speaking to Hey U Guys!, The Rock stated that he's anxious to get started filming.  "I can’t wait.  e’s a unique type of villain. When you start off as a slave, you’re not in a good mood! There’s a heavy wrath that a lot of people have to pay. But when it’s fuelled by a righteous anger if you will, like Black Adam, then you open up to what the character can be which I’m really excited about. That’s why he’s not just a straightforward bad guy."

Shazam is expected to be released on April 5, 2019.  The film is currently without a director by Darren Lemke is currently working on finalizing a script.  We also do not yet have a Billy Batson or Shazam/Captain Marvel.  Might I suggest a stoic Jon Hamm for the role of Shazam?  A one-time Superman contender, his schedule should be pretty open these days.

I saw Mad Max today and really want Tom Hardy as Green Arrow and Hugh Keays-Byrne as Darkseid.

Is it just me, or does the theory of Black Adam becomming Shazzam in the DCU sound more and more possible the more you hear about Black Adam from The Rock?

Geoff Johns' New 52 Shazam story just screams "make me a movie." It was a pain to read in the monthly comic book form, but as a whole graphic novel, it's amazing!

It belongs in the DC Cinematic Universe.

However, I'm really worried about the writer of this movie though.

Hope this comes out in 2017!

Now it's time for them to just cast Alan Ritchson for SHAZAM! He's perfect for this, he's as big as the Rock, he's a great actor, and he is freaking hilarious!

@Kr08

Is that the dude that played Arthur Curry in Smallbille?

@Emblemmaniac I don't think so. I think they want him to be the Loki of the DCCU. They want him to be in the lives of the other characters as a powerhouse villain. Maybe in Justice League we'll see him help just a bit, because he will do whatever it takes to protect his country and people.

@Emblemmaniac Yes, he is. But Smallville didn't show off his badass talents like Blue Mountain State did

If anybody's going to be DC's Loki it'll be Luthor. He's already showing up in BvS and Suicide Squad. I say there's a good chance he shows up in Justice League too

Why do people still assume that Lex is in Suicide Squad???? All I've heard are rumors. No confirmation or anything and yet people are 100% certain that he's in Suicide Squad. I'm not so sure that he is....

Variety, Deadline and THR all reported that Luthor has a role in SS

Black Adam is one of DC's best villain/anti'heros and I think The Rock is gonna KILL it.

The thing is... While he will be in more then just Shazzam since you don't sign The rock for just one film. Especially for a franchies like that... However... however.

You can do the parallells towards Shazzam/Billy Batson, and Bruce Banner/The Hulk

The Popular persona, is the one that is the most popular and people wished had more screentime, while the other persona is the one that is the "main part" of the charachter that drives the story but is not as popular as the other part.

In a Shazzam movie, my guess is that if Billy Batson would be a part of the shazzam charachter, it would have 75% of the screentime at minimum...

I feel we'll see Black Adam take on the Justice League at one point and it will be EPIC!

@Emblemmaniac That is probably why they'll end up casting someone like Alan Rtichson, a relative unknown. They are probably looking for someone to be able to bring the funny and serious like Ritchson can and it would be cheaper for them. Less money for the unknown and at the same time build their star power
