Unless Frank Grillo's Crossbones did a lot of filming on the closed set of Pinewood studios, it appears that Brock Rumlow's appearance in Captain America: Civil War is a small portion of the film. But is it purely an action beat, where Rumlow is out for revenger or is there something more behind the reason why Crossbones and Captain America are fighting? "It’s a lot of physical stuff, without giving too much away, but there is a little bit of everything. It’s a big movie. There’s a lot of characters in the film so it’ll be interesting to see what it looks like all cut together. There’s so many people in the movie." It will be intersting to find out why Rumlow is in Civil War. After the events of The Winter Soldier, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Avengers: Age of Ultron, is would appear that HYDRA is on its last leg.
As for Rumlow's appearance, Grillow confirmed that you'll definitely get to see Rumlow without his helmet. "The scars are not healed. The scars are terribly bad but the helmet comes off and you get to see that." It's intersting that Rumlow is going after Cap, considering he should have more anger towards Falcon (Anthony Mackie).
Captain America: Civil War will arrive in theaters on May 6, 2016, in 3D and IMAX. In the superhero split over government-registration, the Marvel heroes will be split between Team Captain America and Team Iron Man.
UPDATE: Grillo also spoke to Collider today (Grillo is promoting his new TV show Kingdom at the TCA so expect a lot of quotes to pop up from him today at various outlets) and touched on putting on his Crossbones helmet for the first time. He also somewhat confirmed that his appearance in Civil War is brief or "not as much time as he'd like to have."
"[Filming Civil War] just what you would imagine it to be. That’s what we are. Me and [Chris] Evans were doing this scene for days, where we were supposed to be in a certain part of the world and they recreated that world. There were hundreds of extras, and there we were in the center of it. [Robert] Downey wanted to come down and watch us do the scene. So, at one point, I turn around and Downey is there and [Jeremy] Renner was there and Paul Rudd had just come down, and they were all watching us do our thing. I was like, “Wow, this is special! This is really cool! There were seven different [costume] fittings. I was doing another movie, and they flew out. It was top secret. They came in with briefcases and I was like, “Really?! For a helmet?!” And then, when I went in my trailer and saw it and put it on, it changed my whole DNA. It’s amazing!”
