Chris Hemsworth Thinks THOR: RAGNAROK Needs GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Type Humor

Could Hulk and Thor's team-up in Thor: Ragnarok be more comedic than what many are anticipating? Chris Hemsworth certainly thinks the Thor franchise needs an "injection of smart wit and unexpected humor" similar to what James Gunn delivered in his Marvel debut.

While out promoting In The Heart of the Sea, MCU star Chris Hemsworth briefly discussed what he wants to see in the third, solo Thor film; Thor: Ragnarok.  In a film that's confirmed to see the mighty son of Odin team up with Mark Ruffalo's Hulk, Hemsworth is actually hoping for a bit more humor this time around. "I think [Thor 3] needs to be injected with that sort of smart wit and unexpected kind of humor, kind of what James Gunn came in and did with Guardians [Of The Galaxy]. It was like off center and unpredictable, and I think we can definitely use a dose of that, you know?"

At this early stage, it's unclear whether Hemsworth will actually get his wish granted or if Kevin Feige and the Marvel brain-trust actually need Thor: Ragnarok to head in a different direction as the MCU gears up for Avengers: Infinity War.  However, Hemsworth seems confident that new director,
Taika Waititi (What We Do In The Shadows) is certainly capable of delivering a similar, off-beat brand of humor that made Guardians of the Galaxy such a success.  "I feel we had less of the sort of the naivety or fun or humor that the first [Thor] might have had. I wish we had more of that in the second [movie] … We’ve done regal. We’ve done Shakespeare, and we’ve shown that. I think now it’s time to go, 'Ok, cool. Let’s try something different,' and Taika just had such a brilliant sort of take and funny kind of ideas about where we could [go], how we could do that."

Do you want a more comedic undertone in Thor: Ragnarok? It's interesting that Hemsworth says he wants more wit and humor in the film as most comic book fans have repeatedly voiced their displeasure with Darcy Lewis, the character played Kat Dennings.  Perhaps Hemsworth is stating that he would like more comedy, specifically from his character, who's previously been depicted as more cocky and arrogant than humorous.

And the Browns are awesome. Cowboys suck. Also can't wait for Bryan Singer's X-Men Apocalypse and GOTG2.

And Levi is awesome at everything.

After the 1st two lackluster movies I see no potential for Thor 3 to be a good film.

Thor can have levity. He's a character that often breeds comedy, but WHAT HE REALLY NEEDS IS A DIRE TONE....MORE LOTR TYPE VIBE. Thor has had enough comedy. Ragnarok is an event filled with death and destruction....not a very humourous thing in my opinion lol

I think Hemsworth just envies how Gunn has made the GOTG a film that can balance emotional depth and comedy. GOTG has emotional validity, but also great humor that fits into the narrative and characters.

It can make you laugh on a dime

And then make you really feel; cry

So: if Thor 3 is more like GOTG it would be awesome!!!

There really was enough humour in the previous movies. It's just that especially in TDW it wasn't used as well as in GOTG. But this third movie doesn't need more of that. Keep some levity in the movie, but make it fit the story and please, please let it be more serious overall than the previous movies!

I don't mind humour as long as it's IM1 & Cap2 level....GOTG killed it with the Dance standoff...loved the rest of the movie...
