Ike Barinholtz Recounts Jared Leto's Insane Behavior On SUICIDE SQUAD Set

"He did this crazy thing...all the actors were rehearsing, and his character is in love with Margot Robbie -- she's Harley Quinn...so we're rehearsing, and this actor who plays the Joker's kind of lieutenant, walks in and he goes, 'Present for Ms. Quinn.'"

Jared Leto's crazy behavior and odd presents were much documented during filming on the forthcoming Suicide Squad adaptation from WB and David Ayer. However, we now have a first-hand account from one of the actors on set, Ike Barinholtz.  Here's a first-hand account of how Leto, who remained in character as the Joker during filming, interacted with his fellow cast members when the cameras stopped rolling.

"He did this crazy thing...all the actors were rehearsing, and his character is in love with Margot Robbie -- she's Harley Quinn...so we're rehearsing, and this actor who plays the Joker's kind of lieutenant, walks in and he goes, 'Present for Ms. Quinn.' Hands her a box. She opens the box, and a live, giant black rat pops out," Barinholtz explained to Howard Stern. "And we're like, 'What the f--k is going on? That's crazy!' So 20 minutes later, we're still rehearsing, and the actor comes back in and he goes, 'This is for the squad from Mr. J.' And he throws a pig on the table, a dead pig, and as he puts the pig on the table all these bullets start to come out of it...this is in a rehearsal space a month before we started shooting."

You have to be impressed by the lengths Leto is willing to go  in order to capture the essence of the Clown Prince of Crime.  Will he truly deliver a performance that's equal to stellar portrayals by Heath Ledger and Jack Nicholson? Time will tell.

After Ledger, actors know they can't just half ass the Joker.

The pig thing reminds me of that Black Mirror episode, which is totally something the Joker would do, haha, crazy stuff

I can see why Ayer made sure he had a therapist on hand to keep the actors grounded

Didn't we know all this??

Anyway,that's some weird shit. I would've beat his ass...a dead pig lol. That is too "method' for me. I love dedication for a role, but damn. This is a little out there. He's trying too hard.

True, after Ledger, its like anyone who portrays the Joker has to go full on method, but not too far. Just dedicated, but not locked in a hotel room isolated for a month dedication.

@AsapJoker

Haha, that show is sick! But, seriously, if the Joker's face was coming up on the Tv and he was the one who originally sent the threat/message it would have fit perfectly.... but Joker would be alive and laughing at the end of the episode, that would be the major difference

@chimuchone yessssir. It all feels like this show he's putting on to win over fans. Which isnt bad, but it feels fake, idk. Doesn't feel organic or that he's doing these things for the sake of preparing for the performance but for shock and awe. There's a lack of authenticity in his actions. He feels the need to expunge Ledger form everyone's minds. Ledger's preparation was harmful to his psyche, but before we knew what it did to him, it felt genuine and personal. He researched and worked.

Im really excited for Harley Quinn and Waller in this film. They have me stoked.

If all cbm actors exhibit a heightened level of dedication and commitment to their roles the elevation of the genre becomes inevitable. Leto recognise the enormous shoes he expected to fill and I perceive his intention is to surpass all expectation.gotta respect the man dedication like Christian Bale in machinist.

I'm sorry, but the dead pig thing would be to much for me. I'd probably leave the set/film if that happened to me.

To method.
