HAN SOLO Prequel To Be Set During This Time Period

HAN SOLO Prequel To Be Set During This Time Period

Disney and Lucasfilm are reportedly testing approximately 2,500 actors for the role of young Han Solo for their Star Wars prequel. But with actors from 16 to 31 year-old reportedly in the running, how old is Solo in the film? Screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan comments.

Long-time Star Wars scribe Lawrence Kasdan (who also contributed to the Star Wars: The Force Awakens script) recently spoke to Indiewire and revealed that Han Solo's prequel film will take place roughly 10 years before Star Wars: A New Hope.  Said Kasdan, "[The film]  will not be, “Here’s where he was born and this is how he was raised.” I think what it will be is what was he like 10 years earlier [than A New Hope]—maybe a little earlier, you’ll get a glimpse. But Kurosawa once said the heroes are the ones that are still changing and the villains are locked and petrified into what they are, and Harrison embodies in Force Awakens someone who is still not settled on who he is."

With Star Wars throwing out the Expanded Universe, it's unclear how much the film may borrow from The Han Solo Trilogy sci-fi novels which fleshed out the character from his days as a pickpocket street urchin to competitive, racing pilot.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are directing the film which will be released on May 25, 2018 release.

Considering we just saw Finn quit the Empire, showing his 'origin' of quitting the Imperial Navy might be a little too similar, but seeing him meet Chewbacca could be cool.

The article title makes it sound like the movie will take place in this time period as in 2016.

Whoever is cast as young Han, WILL HAVE ONE OF TOUGHEST [frick]ING ROLES EVER & POSSIBLY THE HARDEST TIME WINING FANS OVER. I think it's gonna be tough to bring something new but still imbue the role with that classic charm, wit and bravado that Harrison brought.

At the end of the day, Harrison Ford is Han Solo. It's almost like no one else can play him.

Whoever wins the role:

If there's no Sith, Jedi or lightsabers, I'm not interested.

Well you could take this story in possibly every singly way imaginable.

Make him an outlaw, a bounty hunting criminal.

A pirate ripping off cargo ships.

Or cast a young Lando and make a buddy fugitive space opera.

@SuperCat has a point. I know a good amount of people who only care about jedi, the force and sith aspects of SW. They don't give two poops about Han. Gotta make those people care.

Same for Rogue One.

Hopefully Anthony Ingruber gets cast and Solo too

I really hope it's based off of the Han Solo Trilogy by A.C. Crispin.

To bad they can't just use Harrison Ford and make him look younger using CGI like in one of the X-men films.

He does look like a younger Harrison.

It's not known whether Chris Pratt can draw a crowd.
It's more like Marvel and Dinosaurs draw crowds and Pratt's along for the ride.

It should be Elgort or Anthony Ingruber

Both eerily resemble a young Ford

I guess the studio thinks it's necessary but I like the mystery behind Solo and not knowing every detail about his life , but I'll still buy a ticket cause it's starwars .

I still hate this film. Love Lord & Miller but prequels [frick]ing suck. Only good ones are the Fox X-Men prequels and the Apes prequels.

Look at the Star Wars prequels. Episode 1, Episode 2, and Episode 3 [frick]ing sucked balls.

George is probably thinking now 4 billion wasn't enough for the rights.
If disney releases a Star Wars movie once a year they'll get their money back.........next week.

@Th0rOdinson what are you talking about, he's 6'4. He's actually taller than Harrison, who's 6'1

That Kurosawa quote is pretty perfect on heroes & villains.

I really want to pitch a Star Wars film to Disney based on Kurosawa's Yojimbo but with Obi-Wan as the lead taking place between the Prequels & OT.

Anthony Ingruber is not that great of an actor. Does have the looks tho.

Ive read some people saying Tye Sheridan.

Its highly unlikely I think, but would be interesting and unexpected choice for sure

@Th0rOdinson he is a little boyish, but that could work in his favor. A young Han would exude boyish charm prior to when he's older and his allure is a little more mature, yet still rugged

Holy crap! I never thought of Elgort but he looks just like a young Ford and has some big acting chops.

I wouldn't mind Taron Egerton.

You thought finding the next Batman would be hard? Oh no dear child

This has to be the most feared role for any actor. Scary in a way because it's mother [frick]ing HAN SOLO and you don't wanna mess that up.

Don't know much about Ingruber but his filmography is lacking and unsure if he has the acting chops that are on par with either Egerton or Elgort
