John Ridley Updates Status Of Secret Marvel TV Project

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. led the way, Agent Carter followed and Marvel's Most Wanted starring Mockingbird is on deck. However, there's still a secret Marvel TV project from Oscar-winner John Ridley actively being developed. Is it Ms. Marvel, Cloak & Dagger or Blade's daughter?

With the announcement that the Mockingbird-centered Marvel's Most Wanted was going to pilot, does that mean the secret Marvel TV project being developed by John Ridley was dead? Not at all. Ridley was at the Winter TCA Press Tour to promote American Crime, however, he also touched on the status of the project.  "The Marvel project is still very much alive," noting that his new detective drama for ABC, Presence, is not related to Marvel in any capacity.  He added that his project will have "social consciousness"  but will still deliver "pure entertainment".

"You look at Jessica Jones, and [Marvel's] doing an interesting job of integrating [social consciousness].  I would say in general, graphic novels, their reason for existence is a little different. It's about wish fulfillment, whether you're talking about Peter Parker, a young, misunderstood kid trying to figure out his way; if you're talking about Bruce Wayne, a man who's dealing with the loss of his parents; whether you're talking about Clark Kent, an orphan who's trying to figure out what he's meant to do without the guidance of his parents."

Rumors have varied that Ridley was developing everything from a Blade TV series starring his recently introduced daughter, a show starring the new Ms. Marvel, Kamala Khan or  a Cloak & Dagger series. Best known for screen writing 12 Years A Slave, Ridley has also written episodes of the animated Justice League series and Static Shock.

To see Cloak & Dagger as a live action series, within the MCU, would be a dream of mine - even if it's a property I was hoping to get my hands on for years now!

I don't want to see any more Marvel shows on ABC. They are all neutered and don't have the VFX and spectacle to make up for it, like the films.

But a Blade show on Netflix, where Blade mentors his daughter...that is something I could get behind.

I think It's Runaways.

Blade belongs on Netflix but I don't see that coming down the pipeline until after The Defenders.

Cloak and Dagger would be cool. There's a helluva social consciousness to be used there.

A lot of cool choices. I want it to be Ms Marvel but the timing isn't right. Plus, it might be hard on a tv budget.

A blade series would be cool, though.

I hope it's not on ABC. I like Agents of SHIELD, but if any of these rumoured shows turns out to be true then it needs to be on Netflix.

I think if it's social conscience-based, then it's got to be Ms Marvel.

Why is this a secret?
They were open with things that nobody wanted like a Mockingbird show.
They should be open about this too.
Unless he's just pitching it, which doesnt always work out well

Why isn't cloak and Dagger in any of the mcu yet, they'd fit anywhere. Theyre street level characters so i can see them in the netflix world, but they also have avengers level abilities.
