Sony Gives SPIDER-MAN New Release Date

Sony Gives SPIDER-MAN New Release Date

After appearing in Marvel's Captain America: Civil War, Tom Holland's Spider-Man will be appearing in his own, standalone feature film. Moments ago, Sony and Marvel just announced a brand new release date for the webcrawler. Did the new Spidey film shift up or shift back?

Quell those fears.  Sony is moving the live-action Spider-Man film up, not back! Instead of releasing on July 28th, 2017, the film will now be released on July 7th.  The film will star Tom Holland as Peter Parker and Marisa Tomei as Aunt May.  Jon Watts directs from a script written by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein.

Other films scheduled to appear around the new release date include Wonder Woman (6/23), Despciable Me 3 (6/30), Uncharted (6/30) and War of the Planet of the Apes (7/14).  The shift in release date moves the Spider-Man film away from Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk (7/21) and
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (7/21).

Are you excited for a new Spider-Man film?  Who do you want to see as the villain?

Same month which is cool, July is the perfect month for a Spider-Man film.

And not because my birthday is during that month.

lol ok i doubt this is real with really no proof or source and i doubt Sony is stupid enough to take on a Billion Dollar Franchise like Pirates of the Caribbean on the same day XD

This is real.

Variety and everybody else is reporting on it.

But why would Disney release Pirates against Spider-Man?

If I was Sony, I'd move Spider-Man to early August.

It will clean up in that spot.

There will have been 15 years, 2 months, and 6 days between the release of Tobey's Spider-man and Tom Holland's new and improved version.

Well Star Wars moving to December is fine since it did very well there and ok now with Pirates moving up makes more sense for Spider-Man and Sony lol

but you know the real movie that is truly doomed is Terminator: Genshit 2 is [frick]ed between Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and now Pirates 5

also I wonder if Spielberg will move Ready Player One since its also on December 15th

Wait, looking at the surrounding films... boy this was a dumb ass decision. The 7th is surrounded! Despicable Me 3 the week before, Pirates 5 the same day, and the third Planet of the Apes film the next week.

The 28th's biggest "threat" was Pitch Perfect 3.

MCU/Sony Spidey and Despicable Me2 will make a killing, especially overseas.

They will both cut major legs to any other movie released around their release date.

If this new Spidey reconnect with the type of success Raimi had without 3D and withouth China, then- this movie will make $1+ B at the box office !

HappyHater Spider_Man is July 2017 and Avengers Infinity War is in 2018 May and Black Panther is Feb 2018 no shot of a 2nd Spider-Man movie until Phase 4

@Reasonnnn

Who are some actors that you could REALISTICALLY see Marvel/Sony nabbing for the Mysterio and/or Kraven?

I absolutely love HBO's The Leftovers. I could see them casting Justin Theroux to play Kraven. Check him out if you get a chance. As a matter of fact, I think he'd be fantastic. He's also connected to Marvel in that he wrote the script for (I believe) Iron Man 2 (Don't hold that against his acting abilities though)

RatmanAndBobin - 1/20/2016, 12:32 PM
Not THE Mysterio. I meant Mysterio and/or Kraven*
