It probably comes as no surprise that HBO's new fantasy drama, Game of Thrones has garnered 13 Emmy Nominations. The show has been generating buzz ever since the premiere episode. Some of the Notable nominations are for:

  • Drama Series

  • Supporting Actor in a Drama Series [Peter Dinklage]

  • Directing for a Drama Series [Tim Van Patten, pilot]

  • Writing for a Drama Series [David Benioff and D.B. Weiss]

I'm thrilled with the number of nominations for the show but I feel that Sean Bean definitely should have been nominated for Lead Actor in a Drama Series and that his female counterpart, Michelle Fairley should have received a nomination for Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Also, the series didn't receive a single nomination in any of the Music categories. The intro music alone is Emmy worthy and the shows musical score only gets better from there.

Michelle Fairley deserved an Emmy Nom for her portrayal of Catelyn Stark.

Sean Bean gave an Emmy worthy performance as Ned Stark.

Game of Thrones is an American medieval fantasy television series created for HBO by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss. The series is based on author George R. R. Martin's best-selling A Song of Ice and Fire series of seven planned fantasy novels, the first of which is called A Game of Thrones. The series debuted in the U.S. on April 17, 2011. Game of Thrones has been extremely well received, and has garnered a loyal fanbase. The series was picked up for a second season on April 19, 2011, two days after its premiere.

Peter Dinklage forever! Writers deserve an Emmy for being able to condense that massive book into a great first season.

Honestly surprised they received 13 nods from the academy considering it's a fantasy show. Everyone turns their nose up at fantasy.

I can't wait for the Red Wedding! That is going to put this show into the stratosphere!

I also can't wait to pick up the new book! IT FINALLY CAME OUT! I've been waiting 10 years to find out what happened to those characters from 'Storm of Swords' that weren't in 'A Feast for Crows'! I picked up 'Game of Throne's 2 months after it came to soft-cover back in 1997 and have been a rabid fan since. 1 book in 10 years has been a nightmare, but I hope George is riding the wave of creativity brought on by this show and has figured out how to end this with as much enjoyment as he started it. Bless you, George! I always KNEW this was the greatest fantasy series of all time! Heck, it's one of the greatest series of all time, regardless of genre. Masterful!

On another Emmy note, does anyone here watch both Modern Family and Community?

I love both shows and think they may be the funniest on TV(next to It's Always Sunny), but I think it's entirely ridiculous that they gave Modern Family 6 supporting actor nominations and didn't give Community anything.

Not for acting, not for writing.Nothing.

The 4 adult males on Modern Family took 4 out of 6 spots in the Supporting Actor category. That's just wrong.
