Marvel's #1 Media Mogul, Editorial Director Ryan Penagos and his media crew chat with Tom Brevoort and Jeph Loeb about Marvel's Next Big Thing. Here are some of the highlights from the Live Blog:

From Tom Brevoort:
Marvel SVP of publishing Tom Brevoort calls Avengers: X-Sanction the "opening flare" of what's coming next for Marvel.

"Rather than doing what amounts to another Cable/X-Men story, this was interesting and kind of fun," Brevoort said.

From Jeph Loeb:
[Jeph] Loeb says he sees Cable as the Captain America of the X-Universe.

"What would you do if you found out that something was going to happen to your daughter?" Loeb says of the Avengers: X-Sanction hook."

"The last thing that Hope saw was Cable sacrifice himself in a very beautifully drawn but horrific moment," Loeb says. "What's the next step after that? Where does the story pick up after that?" Loeb continues, saying the series will examine Cable's place not only in the X-Men, but also the Marvel Universe in general.

"How Cable survived Second Coming and what his responsibility is to his daughter" would be among the issues dealt with in the series, according to Loeb. The writer continued, saying that the Avengers' stance towards Hope's future causes Cable to take an "aggressive" position towards them.

"What Cable is up to, because it's Cable, will not be done quietly," Loeb says. "It'll raise the interest of some pretty important people — let's just say, leaders in the X-Men community will have to step up at some point in this storyline."

Loeb says the story has to do with what's coming in 2012 in a very, very big way.

"There are real comparisons with Tony Stark and Iron Man," Loeb says. "Iron Man sees himself as a futurist, and what is that like when he goes against someone who is actually from the future?"

Okay, I'm pretty sure Cable wont be killing all the top Marvel heroes. It's just a teaser.......Right?

Cable (Nathan Christopher Charles Summers) is a fictional character appearing in comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character first appeared as an infant in Uncanny X-Men #201 (January 1986). His adult identity of Cable, which was created by writer Louise Simonson and artist/co-writer Rob Liefeld, first appeared in The New Mutants #87 (March 1990), though he was not revealed to be the adult incarnation of the infant Nathan Summers until years later. He is the son of Scott Summers (Cyclops) and Madelyne Pryor, and was born in the present, but was sent into a distant future where he was raised.

Cable's rifles are always huge. And he's usually got a back-up stash of em' somewhere.
Loved 'Soldier X' way back when. But the latest run protecting Hope was better.

Cable's always armed to the teeth. That's his character. Different artists draw him their own way. Nothing new.

He looks like a bloody Deathlok. I wouldn't be surprised he IS one and it's Tony's fault.

@WeslyGibson: What Bane teaser poster?

Leifeld's stupid creations just won't go away. Cable and Deadpool should just teleport of in the sunset together in their Levi's and take every copy of Youngblood and lay on the bedrock and troll against the die hard riptide while looking at shaft. I hate Leifeld.
