Christopher Jonathan James Nolan (born July 30, 1970) is a British-American film director, screenwriter and producer.

He received serious notice after his second feature Memento (2000), which he wrote and directed based on a story idea by his brother, Jonathan Nolan. Jonathan collaborated with him on later scripts, including the Batman series and The Prestige. He also collaborated with Wally Pfister, who would photograph all his subsequent films. Next he directed the Hillary Seitz written Insomnia (2002), and then pitched an idea for a reboot of the Batman film franchise to Warner Brothers, eventually making a successful trilogy. Inception (2010) was an original screenplay by Nolan, a heist film set in the world of "shared dreaming". Nolan co-founded Syncopy Films with his wife, Emma Thomas, and they have produced all his films since The Prestige (2006).

Nolan has also worked with screenwriter David S. Goyer, film editor Lee Smith, composers David Julyan and Hans Zimmer, special effects coordinator Chris Corbould, and actors Christian Bale, Cillian Murphy, Jeremy Theobald, Tom Hardy, Ken Watanabe, and Michael Caine.

Nolan spent his childhood in the United States and England, and later studied English literature at University College, London, which he choose specifically for its film-making facilities. There he made a series shorts in the college film society, and met the friends with whom he would later make Following (1998), his independent début feature.

If he directed a star wars movie then the nolanites would need the movie to be "realistic" and "grounded". All jokes aside it would definitely be interesting to see him tackle Star Wars but what would be far more interesting is seeing him Direct a Sandman movie

off topic, but i do like the idea of different directors for each bond flick, tarintino for one, nolan for one, favreau, etc.

Funny because the best Star Wars film (ESB) wasn't even directed by Lucas. Lucas struck gold with the first one and should have quit while he was ahead instead of killing the saga years later.

He should make ep 7 8 and 9

It is a bit brief, but it's telling non-the-less.
He acknowledges how revolutionary it was, among other things.
I totally agree with him.

The state of STAR WARS will remain in the Clone War era until Lucas dies. He hates the original fans THAT much.

If he and his brother Jonathan were to make the Star Wars prequels then at least they would have had a coherent and sensible story unlike the make it up as you go crap Lucas presented just to showcase digital FX.

They won't ever hire Nolan for 007, just like they didn't hire Tarantino even though Casino Royale was his idea, and they wouldn't hire Spielberg back in the 70's. The Bond producers have a rule against letting true auteurs direct Bond, because they don't want a director putting too much of their own stamp on it. That's why Spielberg made Indy, and the Batman films are probably the closest we'll ever get to a Nolan Bond film.

A Star Trek movie by Nolan would be remarkably similar with "Star Trek:The Motion Picture" by Robert Wise.

He also went for sober realism, as much as possible in that series.
