Actor Henry Cavill Compares Man Of Steel To DC's "New 52", Plus Much More!

Henry Cavill compares Man of Steel to DC's New 52 and also discusses his research into the source material and his feelings about the fan feedback. Can't miss responses from Cavill after the jump.

Derrik J. Lang has a great write up for the Washington Examiner about Henry Cavill and some great quotes from the actor as well as his supporting cast from both Immortals and Man of Steel. So far, Cavill hasn't made one wrong step in his promotion for Zack Snyder's new Superman flick and as a result, anticipation is building rather than subsiding even though we have a little ways to go before Man of Steel hits theaters.

Cavill on what fans can expect from Zack Snyder's Man of Steel:

Cavill compared the "Man of Steel", written by screenwriter David S. Goyer and directed by "300" and "Watchmen" auteur Zack Snyder, to "The New 52," DC Comics' dramatic and so-far successful revamping of the origins and costumes of many DC Universe titles and characters, including Wonder Woman and Green Lantern and of course Superman.

"When that came out, everyone went, 'Arrhhh! Everything's changed,'" exclaimed Cavill. "It's part of the evolution of the character. There is a modernization to it, and certainly our style is making him easier to associate with because it's pretty tough to associate with an invulnerable alien."

Cavill on coming close to playing Superman before and the contacts he made at WB:

"It's actually been proven that just because I didn't get Superman then doesn't mean that I can't get Superman now," said Cavill without sounding the least bit arrogant. "You can't let it get you down. You've got to look at the positives. I got to meet with Warner Bros. and everyone there. It's beneficial, really."

Cavill on the fan reaction and his research into the source material:

"There are a lot of people who have dedicated their life to loving this character. ... Their opinion does matter," noted Cavill. "I've done my research on the source material. I have my opinions on the various bits and bobs, but sometimes there will be a little gem out there about one of the books, and I'll say to myself, 'Yeah. That's a good point.'"

Immortals director Taresem Singh also sings Cavill's praises and states he will be a wonderful Superman:

"He will deliver in spades," said "Immortals" director Singh of Cavill's Greek hero portrayal. "There's no drawing this guy back at this point in his life. He's so committed. ... In my film, he had to act, but he truly is a Superman." Singh said he was sold on Cavill for Immortals when he gave the actor a simple scene to read, and Cavill effortlessly interpreted it five different ways.

Sounds like Cavill just may deliver the Superman movie fans have been patiently and not-so patiently waiting for. I personally can't wait to see Immortals simply for the fact that it will give me a glimpse as to what to expect from Henry when the curtains finally rises on Man of Steel in 2013.

Man of Steel is an upcoming American superhero film under the development of Zack Snyder, Christopher Nolan, and David S. Goyer. Based on the DC Comics character Superman, the film will be a reboot of the Superman film series. Using Chicago as a backdrop, and with production to be based in west suburban Plano, the film entered principal photography in August 2011, for a planned theatrical release on June 14, 2013 by Warner Bros., which also includes IMAX venues.

so far you can't ask for more than what he's saying. Plus his set pix are overall very spot on......ok small gripes on his "superman" hair or lack of Clark glasses .. but there is so much time to go... .I can't wait! ....I wonder if the 2012 Super Bowl will be the first trailer, or sooner / later than that!

@teabag

Thank goodness you showed up.like The GODDAMNSUPERGUY,I love Cavill in this role, only not quite so much.Anyway, love Cavill's reference to the new 52.This could be the doorway to a combined DCU. Imagine a live action JLA film version of the new 52 Justice League Superman,Batman,Green Lantern,Flash brawl.

My sexuality is Quite intact but this man is sexy in every way shape & form. He will do well in this industry and MOS will be an amazing CBM. Can't wait!

As for the 52, I hope they go with a little more attitude but a character that looks like he will develop into a KC Superman. Not a boyscout, not an Angry 22 year old but exactly what he is, an Alien, with god like powers, raised in middle America...

SteveRogersSon- Of course i was only kiding. I do like Reeve only i never thought of him as the be all/end all of Supermen. And so far, Cavill seems to make sure we don't think that. However, i DO definitely agree with your criticisms in regards to the DCnU version of Supes. I don't want Cavill or Snyder to just use that brownprint for the character. They should use all shades of him from the massive source. And i'd be highly surprised if Cavill doesn't crack at least one smile in this film.

If its hard to relate to an invulnerable alien, why do I really like Silver Surfer and really dislike Superman?

Also, he didn't answer the real question: Is his Superman going to be a communist like the new 52 Superman?
