Michael Shannon On His Fight With Russell Crowe In The Man of Steel

Here's what the talented Michael Shannon has to say about exchanging fisticuffs with Russell Crowe. If Shannon is to be believed, General Zod definitely got the best of Jor-el.

Michael Shannon is a fast rising star in Hollywood and he'll reach new levels in Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot as the villainous alien General Zod. Shannon reportedly put the smack-down on his Australian co-star, Russel Crowe, who plays Superman’s biological father Jor-el.

“I think he’s out of the hospital, although I left as soon as he couldn’t get up off the floor,” he joked.

“I just said, ‘I’m done with you’, and I just walked out, so hopefully I won’t get fired from the movie. That would be awful, because they are paying me an awful lot of money,” he added.

It has been speculated that the fight between the two characters will take place on the alien planet of Krypton, and will showcase Superman's home world as never before seen in previous feature films.

Michael went on to state that he may be a little bit nervous about the pressure of playing the lead villain in the Man of Steel.

“It’s feeling kind of strange. I mean, it’s totally different than anything I have ever done before,” he revealed.

“I have never played an alien, or a general. I don’t really have a frame of reference for these things so you just have to use your imagination but I think that’s what we’re supposed to do anyway.”

Man Of Steel, also stars Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne and Christopher Meloni, is scheduled for a June 2013 release.

Man of Steel is an upcoming American superhero film under the development of Zack Snyder, Christopher Nolan, and David S. Goyer. Based on the DC Comics character Superman, the film will be a reboot of the Superman film series. Using Chicago as a backdrop, and with production to be based in west suburban Plano, the film entered principal photography in August 2011, for a planned theatrical release on June 14, 2013 by Warner Bros., which also includes IMAX venues.

I would almost bet we get at least a teaser with the dark knight rises movie. Being a DC movie and the connections with WB and Chris Nolan.

Yes, because we know having a role in a Superman film assures you of a fast track to being a star. Look at Brandon Routh. Oh...wait a minute....never mind. :-P

I'm not sure about the Zod-CGI, but Shannon's going to dominate this movie.

so i wonder if they will attempt to start filming the sequel before the first one comes out seeing as its soooo far away and at the pace the filming is going its gonna be wraped up soon .. i guess that leaves plenty of time for re shoots and what have you .. its gonna be weird to see snyder do this type of movie i mean this is the first time he is gonna have actual skilled actors .. cavill,costner,crowe,shannon,lane,adams,fishburne,....

THis guy is going to be so awesome as Zod. Is it me or does Shannon kind of resemble Terrence Stamp from the original movie.
