Drawn by original Image founder Erik Larsen, 'Supreme' Issue #63 which will be released in April will be the last written by Alan Moore before Larsen takes over both script and art duties the series. Seeking to kick-start the series once again, Image dusted off one last script from Moore which will serve as a spring-point for Larsen to take the series into a new direction.

First appearing in Robert Liefeld's Youngblood in 1992, Supreme was at first a Superman archetype who was a complete a**hole. When Alan Moore took over writing duties in Supreme Issue #41, he retconned the character to be more similar to the do-gooding Man of Steel that the public is more familiar with, giving him a mild-mannered alter-ego (Ethan Crane), a Lex Luthor-ish nemesis in Darius Dax, and even his own Lois Lane in the form of Diana Dane.

Said Larsen on the title, "The book needs to be more than just an homage to Silver Age comics that Alan Moore liked as a kid. Me coming on board and keeping elements of what Alan has done — and at the same time add something new to it and add something old to it — I think it'll be cool."

I remember this comic just by seeing that first picture. Didn't he kill that whole team? I have some issues. I have to look for them, have not seen this in years.

@joeker: heh, well kind of but not really. Supreme the Pre-Moore days was one of your typical Liefeld EXTREME Characters who's books weren't that good at all. They were bleck and Supreme I swear was unbalanced, not in the sense of he was too powerful but rather the reverse. He claimed to be SOO powerful and some stupid people say he was and what not but he NEVER showed it and he kept on getting his ass kicked and nearly died and did died a few times in LAME ways. And in probably a fake interview, Liefeld said he created him to be stronger then Superman except he never necessarily said that.

But yeah, his stuff was waste matter pretty much and there were few and inbetween cool moments(I had the displeasure of reading them) UNTIL Alan Moore took over and made him an AWESOME Superman homage and GOD the series kicked ass which is unfortunate since the reprints of the trades look kind of bad.

But yeah, Supreme and Irredeemable are different and I can't wait to read this new series and hopefully we'll get a look at FINALLY the character known as "The End" which is said to be like a cross between Darkseid and Doomsday. <3

If you're talking about Liefeld's Supreme, yes he is garbage but if you're talking about Alan Moore's Supreme, then you're CRAZY!
