Drawn by original Image founder Erik Larsen, 'Supreme' Issue #63 which will be released in April will be the last written by Alan Moore before Larsen takes over both script and art duties the series. Seeking to kick-start the series once again, Image dusted off one last script from Moore which will serve as a spring-point for Larsen to take the series into a new direction.
First appearing in Robert Liefeld's Youngblood in 1992, Supreme was at first a Superman archetype who was a complete a**hole. When Alan Moore took over writing duties in Supreme Issue #41, he retconned the character to be more similar to the do-gooding Man of Steel that the public is more familiar with, giving him a mild-mannered alter-ego (Ethan Crane), a Lex Luthor-ish nemesis in Darius Dax, and even his own Lois Lane in the form of Diana Dane.
Said Larsen on the title, "The book needs to be more than just an homage to Silver Age comics that Alan Moore liked as a kid. Me coming on board and keeping elements of what Alan has done — and at the same time add something new to it and add something old to it — I think it'll be cool."
