THE DARK KNIGHT RISES (TDKR) Is NOT 4 Hours Long, Not Even Close

MTV reported the run time of Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises as four hours long as a joke which got out of hand. Four hours is too long, even for Batman.

The Dark Knight Rises

The Dark Knight Rises
Well, this is another case of humor not translating well when put into words to be read on computer screens. Yesterday, MTV reported that Christopher Nolan screened The Dark Knight Rises for WB Execs and that the rough cut of the film was 4 hours long. Well, Nolan did screen the film, and it was reportedly well received but it was not 4 hours. In fact, like us, MTV has no idea how long the final Batman film from Nolan will be. The author of MTV's article took to twitter to clear things up.

See guys, even a site with the power and money of MTV can sometimes make a mistake or exercise poor judgement. As ever, we'll have word on the official running time and other Batman news as soon as it breaks.

Running Time: Unknown
Release Date: July 20 2012 (USA)
MPAA Rating: Unknown
Starring: Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Juno Temple, Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman
Directed by: Christopher Nolan
Written by: Jonathan Nolan (screenplay), Christopher Nolan (screenplay), David S. Goyer (story)

The Dark Knight Rises is an upcoming superhero film directed by Christopher Nolan, who co-wrote the screenplay with his brother Jonathan Nolan and the story with David S. Goyer. Based on the DC Comics character Batman, the film will be the third installment in Nolan's Batman film series, and is a sequel to Batman Begins (2005) and The Dark Knight (2008). The Dark Knight Rises is intended to be the conclusion of the series. It stars Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, and Morgan Freeman. The film will take place eight years after the events of The Dark Knight and will introduce the characters of Selina Kyle and Bane—portrayed by Anne Hathaway and Tom Hardy, respectively—two villains from the Batman mythology.

I actually found it amusing that anyone thought Nolan had the WB brass on their asses for 4 hours watching his movie.

itll be way closer to an hour and a half than four hours. That being said it should be around two hours and fifteen or two hours and thirty minutes, but hopefully no longer than that. I honestly wouldn't see it if it was longer than that. TDK was boring in too many parts

I don't know what the problem was; the Return of the King Extended edition is 4 hours long and noone complained back then. it's just that some people here can't stand nolan, which is sad because I don't hate on the marvel directors. if you're gonna hate don't pretend to be unbiased and don't review anything in the future because i just can't take you seriously.

Is it really necessary to have '(TDKR)' in the article heading?

Especially when the abreviation isn't even used in the article itself?

If not four hours, then make it three hours! LOL.
It's the last Batman movie, so it should be fun to watch a long flick of Batman kicking ass. :)
