Kevin Feige On "The DC Character He'd Like To Incorporate Into The MCU" And "THE FALCON As A Sidekick" In CAPTAIN AMERICA 2

Marvel Studios' President of Production Kevin Feige says if he could have one DC character it would be Batman, plus innuendos that Captain America always has a sidekick while discussing The Falcon.

As you can see, Feige is on a whirlwind press tour for The Avengers and is being asked all manner of questions from inquisitive journalists. Fresh of giving an update on Guardians of the Galaxy, Feige spoke to The Huffington Post about the 2014 Captain America sequel amongst a few other topics.

QUESTION: If you could poach one character from DC, which one would it be?

FEIGE: Heh, well ... I don't know, exactly. The obvious answer is Batman.

QUESTION:But I get the feeling you like some of the secondary characters.

FEIGE:I'm not going to name any particular one, but I will say there are times when -- and I'm going back years and years -- when I was very jealous of some of the Vertigo titles. There was some neat stuff going on. And some obscure stuff that could be interesting.

QUESTION: Captain America always has a sidekick. In the next "Captain America" movie, is he going to have a sidekick?

FEIGE:It is interesting that you ask that question. And I'm not going to give you an answer. But I will give you kudos for pointing that out and recognizing that.

QUESTION: When I was younger, my dad had a bunch of Cap' comic books from the "Captain America and the Falcon" era.
FEIGE:[Pauses] That was a fun era.

QUESTION:You're a vague guy.
FEIGE:[Laughs]

QUESTION:And no comment to my accusation about you either?
FEIGE: [Laughs] No.

QUESTION:OK, I get it. I realize that you have to be vague.

FEIGE:I'm impressed with questions that are more relevant than others. And those are relevant.

Well, you're certainly not going to get much more from Feige than that but in my personal opinion, I'd say that he all but confirmed that Cap will have a sidekick in his sequel outing. Unless Bucky makes his return sooner than what most fans anticipate it very well could be The Falcon fighting alongside The Sentinel of Liberty. Also, recently actor Derek Luke teased a return to the MCU in an all new role so maybe we're piecing together a few puzzle pieces here.

Captain America: The First Avenger is a 2011 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Captain America. It is the fifth installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film was directed by Joe Johnston, written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, and stars Chris Evans, Tommy Lee Jones, Hugo Weaving, Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan, Dominic Cooper, Neal McDonough, Derek Luke, and Stanley Tucci. Predominantly set during World War II, the film tells the story of Steve Rogers, a sickly man from Brooklyn who is transformed into super-soldier Captain America to aid in the war effort. Rogers must stop the Red Skull – Adolf Hitler's ruthless head of weaponry, and the leader of an organization that intends to use a device called a "tesseract" as an energy-source for world domination.

Screenwriters Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus said in April 2011 that they have been writing a sequel for Marvel Studios. In a June 2011 interview, they said, "The story will likely be in the present day. We're experimenting with flashback elements for more period World War II stuff. I can't say much more than that but we made it baggy enough to refer to more stories in the past". In September 2011, Chris Evans said that a sequel may not be released until 2014. In January 2012, Neal McDonough mentioned that a sequel would likely be filmed after the completion of Thor 2, which would likely be before the end of 2012.

In March 2012, it was reported that Marvel has whittled down a field of ten directors to three potential candidates; George Nolfi (The Adjustment Bureau), F. Gary Gray (The Italian Job) and brothers Anthony and Joseph Russo (Community) to helm the sequel.[130] In April 2012, Walt Disney Studios announced that it will release the sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger on April 4, 2014. Disney stated, "The second installment will pick-up where … The Avengers leaves off, as Steve Rogers continues his affiliation with Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. and struggles to embrace his role in the modern world."

Batman is the obvious choice. Batman is a Marvel character that was born in the wrong universe.

He fits in with Marvel about a million times better than with DC.

I can just see him swinging around the city with the likes of Daredevil, Moon Knight, and Spidey. He has "Marvel Knight" written all over him.

If they use ultimate Falcon I swear I am going to PUNCH SOMEONE IN THE FACE. Classic Falcon all the way!

Cap doesn't need some professional soldier/biologist for a sidekick, he needs someone inexperienced who needs his guidance to become a hero.

We all know how important Winter Soldier is to Cappie's story. I can't imagine him not being in the sequel.

@Nomis - to me Batman is DC's more Marvel-like character. Just like Thor ir the most DC-like one, IMO.

@TheSharkKnight - you should try and bring relevant questions like you did now with the falcon's ultimate vs 616 version instead of trolling marvel movies. Then the hate will vanish, you'll see.

Batman is perfect in the DC Universe right where he belongs, he is a constant reminder that despite all their super speed and flying and lantern rings and magic lasso, he can hang with the best of them with nothing but intelligence, determination, and a few gadgets to help along the way. Forget "Iron" suits, super-steroids or gamma radiation, Batman is in a class all his own. He made Darkseid look like a bitch and was the first to dodge his "undodge-able" Omega Beams. Batman is #1 in any universe.

@TheSharkKnight-Why not, they didn't have an issue bringing in Human Torch to double as Captain America.

"I was very jealous of some of the Vertigo titles."

Can totally understand this. Vertigo has always had some awesome titles. Marvel's MAX line never got it down, they kept to the Superhero stuff too much (although I loved just about every book on the MAX line).

I'd be more apt to compare Icon to Vertigo though and Icon has some great titles.

I'm trying to picture Falcon in a movie, having some trouble with how they'll make his flight believable, unless they change how it works or just have him glide down from high places.

ARGH! What the hell is with this love of Ultimate Falcon?! IF you were going to have him come on as a full fledged Avenger or have a solo film, THEN you could use the Ultimate Falcon character, BUT if you are going to use him as a sidekick, you GOTTA go with the original streetwise but inexperienced Falcon. Have him get his wings as a gift from SHIELD or better yet, have him steal them from AIM. As for what his costume should look like, I'm not really that concerned.
