FANTASTIC FOUR Reboot To Be Developed By Josh Trank Who May Or May Not Direct

Fox CEO Tom Rothman provides updates on X-Men and Fanstastic Four movies, says Josh Trank could still direct FF4 and is currently working on the film's development.

Many assumed that Josh Trank (27) would follow up his break-out hit film, Chronicle with a major studio blockbuster. His name was mentioned for both Venom and Fantastic Four before the young filmmaker chose to adapt Red Star, the graphic novel by Christian Gossett. Apparently, that won't keep Trank off a Fantastic Four reboot says Fox chief Tom Rothman.

"I'm hopeful," said Rothman. "I think Josh is going to come onto 'Fantastic Four' and develop that." Speaking to Collider, Rothman states that Trank is actually developing the movie NOW and may or may not direct.

As for the X-Men:First Class sequel. Rothman stated, "We're going to start shooting January 2013 for [a release date of] either Christmas 2013, or Summer 201. The script is in development now. Matt, Simon Kinberg and Jane Goldman are working on it now."

As much as I like and respect the Fantastic Four in the Marvel continuity, sometimes I feel like they might be too cheesy to be adapted to the big screen.

First Class sequel XMas 2013 please.. December needs more superheroes.

Please, Fox give the FF back to Marvel. You can keep X-Men as long as you don't reboot it.

I saw Avengers yesterday and now when I think about Fox's Marvel movies, I just see years of wasted opportunity and false hope. Give them back to Feige, he knows how to treat them right

Cant they wait a while. I dont wanna see this for another 10 years to be honest. Let the other one pass. Continue with the Thor, Cap and Iron man story lines. Let DC get MOS and Flash off the ground. I dont want CBms to saturate the market to where they cant even make money because they're back to back to back summer movie blockbusters. Give it some time.

But if they must. I loved Chronicle, go ahead with Trank.

This summer will likely light a fire under all sorts of comic projects again. If "Avengers" hits as big as some are predicting then WB will be unable to say no to a "Justice League" film.

About the only thing that could derail reboots of just about every comic film property will be a clunker of a performance by Spider-man this summer.

I don't think the cast matters so much. Yeah, Jessica Alba was pretty bad and Ioan Gruffudd was wooden, but the biggest problem was just how utterly stupid and pointless the movies were. The story goes nowhere. We don't care about the characters because they are written to be so generic that by the time any actual plot is constructed - you're yawning.

Make them relevant or GTFO

I for one welcome another take on the FF (less kid friendly this time). Great Marvel team that has a rich comic history and could be great if done right. Bring in the Inhumans with a Torch and Crystal storyline. Needs a better Thing and could even do a storyline like FF #194 with Diablo. Also, Mole Man and repeating their iconic cover in a shot could be cool.

Just give them back to Marvel, Reed and Viktor are working on a Negative Zone project in their early 20s. Experiment goes wrong and causes damage to Viktor's face. Viktor secludes himself to Latveria. Years later Reed and his team blast into space in a stolen S.H.I.E.L.D. spaceship due to anomalies. They are later found on an island by S.H.I.E.L.D. and are provided with uniforms based on Reed's unstable molecule designs but are held captive in the Hulk cage. Fury offers them freedom in exchange for their cooperation. They rip off the badges saying they don't want any part of S.H.I.E.L.D. but are willing to use their new-found abilities to protect humanity.

LOL marvel does them faithful but not always good

first class made by fox is superior to both thor and captain america who were more worried about building to avengers than actually telling a good story

Marvel needs to get FF back soon...
Along with them comes Silver Surfer, Galactus, Doctor Doom, Super Skrull, and the potential for things like Civil War

This article is a prime example of why the F4 reboot is doomed to failure. Josh Trank has already said that he is a Batman guy and he doesn't really know or care for the F4, and yet 20th Century Fox persists in chasing a guy who clearly doesn't want the job. Doomed!

Ugh. I'm so sick of Fox making Marvel movies. Why anyone likes First Class is beyond me. We're never going to see Civil War play out on screen if Fox keeps making these shitty movies. And I swear to god if that Twilight guy makes Daredevil, I'm gonna lose my mind.

FOX must be really interested in getting the FF4 reboot going.

They wanted Josh Trank, and even though there is scheduling conflicts. They still want him to develop the movie.

I'm glad they don't want the movie to lag behind, but I hope FOX puts as much effort into this as they did with First Class(I thought it was a great movie).

Fonzie people like First Class because

- It has one of the best scores in the modern decade. Beyond brilliant score

- Fassbender and Mcavoy acted incredibly and their bromance was spot on.

- Bacon as Shaw was also so well acted

- The origin made sense in its own context. Magnetos holocaust past and how he donned the suit was well done.

- The final battle was beyond epic and cool.

- Wolverine cameo

- Funny Jokes

- Character interactions

It seems to me you hate First Class simply because it isn't in the MCU.

Thing and Chris Evans as Torch were the only positives of the first one. The Nip/Tuck guy was TERRIBLE, Alba just didn't fit and that other guy should never be allowed to act again. Whatever is done with Thing, I'd love to see Michael back, he was outstanding.

Has anyone created a petition on this site for FOX to hand over its movie rights of the Fantastic Four back to Marvel Studios. i mean someone here must have some connection to FOX studios to be able to deliver this petition.
I would sort of expect that 95%of the users on this site hate/dislike the majority of marvel movies that is churned out by FOX so i would see a lot of signatures on the petition. It may just give the kick in the balls the needed.

@squibbwalker as someone who has seen the movie could you please refrain from spitting out the biggest spoiler of the avengers movie and ruining the surpirse for the majority of people who have not seen it yet cheers..if you could please delete your comment and rewrite with using that characters name or dont write anything at all. Ive seen the movie probably before everyone else excluding the early screenings, at least i had the decency to withhold that info.

@ bagadoosh she is amazingly beautiful man no doubt
