Thor2

Previously, we heard from Idris Elba about Thor 2 and we're told that the film will definitely focus more on Asgard and his fellow Asgardians. Here, speaking to Collider, Elba states what he hopes will be explored within his character, Heimdall.

Will he be back for Thor 2?
Elba:Yes, I am. I'm definitely going to do my man in a suit film.

What are you most excited about getting to do in the sequel?
Elba: I'd just like to get to know him a bit more. Who is Heimdall? He guards the gate. Okay. Is there anything else? I don't know what is in the script because I haven't read it yet. But, the audience has responded to Asgard and wants to know more about who lives there and what it's about. I'm sure, if they do that, Heimdall will be featured more.

Does anyone know of any comic runs that focus on Heimdall or reveal what he does besides guard The Rainbow Bridge?

UPDATE

Speaking to Crave just last week, actress Kat Dennings has stated she's unsure whether she'll return for the Thor sequel and that it's apparently up to Marvel. Seeing that Hemsworth and Elba have already seen the treatment is it possible that her character, Darcy, won't be returning? Speculation prior to Thor had Dennings portraying Hela but that proved to be ultimately false as her character was simply Jane Foster's intern. It also seems I'm alone in thinking her character was funny?

Thor 2 is an upcoming American superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Thor, produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. It is intended to be the sequel to 2011's Thor and the eighth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Alan Taylor is set to direct a screenplay by Don Payne and Robert Rodat with Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston and Idris Elba reprising their roles from the first film. Thor 2 is scheduled to be released on November 15, 2013.

In April 2012, Hemsworth confirmed that filming is scheduled to begin in August 2012, in London, England.Hemsworth also revealed that Thor 2 will have a more Viking-influenced feel, elaborating "I think the science fiction element to Thor… the danger is it falls a little bit into the world of it's 'tough to throw a light to.' I think of big waterfalls and mountains and a Viking influence, where the Norse mythology kind of grew from. Having that in Asgard is going to make it all the more special and that's what Alan [Taylor] wants to bring to it."

Let's just hope "Darcy" doesn't return for the sequel. What a pointless character.

This film needs to take us to Muspellheim and Surtur needs to have some involvement. It needs to be a little grittier than the first film.

I think when the film opens Loki will have been chained to the base of Yggdrasil by Odin for his actions in Avengers. Amora will be involved somehow in getting Loki released and at some point in the film Loki will steal the gauntlet from the vault to give to Thanos in hopes of calming his anger over Loki's failure in Avengers. Surtur and the fire demon army attacking Asgard or something like that will be the diversion.

On a side note...I was watching the Avengers again over the weekend.

Did anybody notice in the scene where Thor and Loki are talking after escaping the Quinjet, on the Mountain, Odin's Ravens fly by? Now thus could've been just some random birds but it was two black ravens from what I could tell.

@Gmoney84, I saw the ravens also and the same thought crossed my mind. Good catch, if it was Odin's ravens it may be referred to in Thor 2.

Heimdall has often been the love interest of Amora the Enchantress, whom it is said will figure in the sequel. And I might be mistaken (my memory is for crap now) but I believe that (in 616) Heimdall and Sif are siblings.

@marknjoanna for someone who seemingly hates DC you sure seem to talk about it a lot...

And no real need for Darcy to come back, still not sure how Jane is featuring if the focus is on Asgard, unless the final battle ends up on Earth.

And I want to see the Enchantress in Thor 2, but I won't lose any sleep if I don't

portman good actress wasn't good in thor, dennings nice tits but thats all i got from her character, the scenes on asgard were great & that's where the sequel needs to be set.

Cool! More Heimdall would be awesome.

I also hope they bring out Balder The Brave for this one and give us MORE SIF!

@ Simonsonrules: That's correct. Sif and Heimdall are supposed to be siblings.

For the 1st time I agree with Grif cut back on the humor in Thor 2 so they get the Marvel films feeeling a little more seriuos for the Avengers 2.

I think the comedy in the Avengers was perfect for the time but with them building up of a character like the mad Titan Thanos all that comedy just won't work out.

If they showcase Heimdell it will be money in the bank. I think Amora suducing Thor in an effort to help Loki would be a good plot line. Loki helping along the Surtur war to create a diversion to steal the gauntlet for Thanos would help lead up to the Avengers 2.

I would love to see Cat Dennings come back but make her character be Hela in diguise the whole time since Thor 1. Now that would be a pretty clever plot twist.

Though I know a lot of guys didn't like the humor in Thor, I found that the humor was actually spot on for women. Between Hensworth's abs, Hiddleston's natural charm, and the wisecracks that popped up fairly often, it really helped get a lot of women into the action-hero genre.

I wish Natalie Portman was "unsure of return for sequel". Sorry, but Leon/Professional, and maybe Black Swan, aside, she's pretty horrible. Lose her, which loses Dennings, and lean towards Sif

@TheRose i think you're right about that. humor didn't bother me honestly, and I think it assuaged the guilt of dragging the girlfriend to yet another 2 hours of me nerding out at a comic book movie

I have a small nit pick...
Marvel movie females have ZERO sex appeal, not the actresses I think they all were hot... But their wardrobe is not sexy.
They don't have to be naked or prancing around like Victoria Secret models... But give us a lil more! Sif with her hair down is a start... That ponytail pissed me off especially the earth scenes.

That is all.

The humor in THOR was GREAT, the taser scene, the second time thor got hit by the car, the "this drink" AND the two funny scenes with the Warriors Three were CLASSIC!!

I say bring her back just for the titties. Also, Heimdall should definitely have a larger role. The film has got to be less corny and more recievable than the first one.

I Loved Thor, but what made it so great was the Asgardians. Hemsworth Hiddleston and Hopkins and all of Asgard. I really hope it takes place more in Asgard because thats where the last movie shined.
Glad to see Elba is back that guy is awesome.
Dont really care for Kat D

GingerBird, uhh yeah it really was
