Beric will probably get a recast like The Mountain did. Hell I didn't even realize Gregor was in half the episodes he was in because I was looking for the actor from season one.

Mance, Ser Beric, and Thoros are the ones I'm looking forward to the most. If they stay true to the books (as I hope they will) Ser Beric will be on par with Daniel Jackson for most deaths by a single character in a tv series.

The RECASTING really sucks in shows like this. It doesn't affect me much because i've read all the books, but i have friends that didn't know who the new MOUNTAIN was. The new guy wasn't nearly as impressive as the 1st dude they cast. I hope they bring back the the actor who played BERIC DONDARRION...

...on 2nd thought, it might not be too bad if they reshoot the scene where he takes off his armor in the throne room with the new actor for the re-cap when season 3 premieres. That way people would remember, "That's the dude JOFFERY & THE QUEEN fired for being too old."

***********************SPOILER****************************

However, if they do it that way they may ruin his stealthy entrance into DANERYS' good graces...

Talontd, nah dude you're thinking of Barristan Selmy! He'll be back as the actor that originally played him I'm sure, Dondarion was glimpsed very briefly when Ned sent him to hunt down The Mountain and his men.

was a bit strange re casting The Mountain, the guy who played him in the first season is a beast and what I find funny is that his name is actually Conan lol

nonserviam
nonserviam - 5/29/2012, 2:38 PM
That wasn't Dondarion, that was Barristan Selmy.

And Ramsay Snow should have been in the Winterfell prison impersonating his friend Reek. He should have allied with Theon already (it was HIS idea to kill the farmer's sons and pass them off as Bran and Ricon.)

And I agree, only 10 episodes is pretty weak.

Season Two went through the book, A Clash of Kings, too fast. They changed so much from the book. I guess the show will only last five seasons. Unless George R. R. Martin releases book 6 in the next 3 years. I guess 90% of the cast can take a break after season 3 ;)

That's a good point re: A Feast for Crows and the major characters. I guess they'll make season 4 a mix of books 4 and 5...?

I'm into Dance with Dragons, and it seems like STorm of swords is for sure a full season, if not more, and then feast for crows and dance with dragons could be at least two seasons of combined material.

overall, they have kept the spirit of the material alive, while changing things that aren't too important. for me, i'm a little nervous about how they have messed with Dany's storyline, but hopefully they at least do the slave city stuff close to how it goes in the book, because that was all awesome, and most of the really fun stuff happens in storm of swords.

As far as Vargo needing to be in the story, they could just mash up characters like they did with Bronn. Maybe make the Mountain in charge of the place where Jaime and Brienne end up. That would make sense and wouldn't ruin anything too important. Though it would be too bad to miss out on the Brave Companions. I've been trying to separate my love for the books from my love for the show. Both rule, so I try to just enjoy. Though the show does get me annoyed at times in how it varies from the books.

While I understand your reasoning, I just don't see them making The Mountain that kind of character. He's been pretty much how he is in the books. Quiet. And loyal to house Lannister.

Just don't see the arc. He's more of a glorified henchman. Sucks cause he's more than that in the books. He's a [frick]ing monster!
wildbillyb
wildbillyb - 5/31/2012, 4:14 AM
However, I do think giving him a bit more screen time will happen, since in the book a lot of his stuff happens off screen until the last thing we see him doing in storm of swords. that scene will be more dramatic if they bolster his character a bit, and having him be the one that harasses jaime and brienne would allow for that to happen.

It's driving me absolutely crazy that we have not seen Reek. I'm expecting them to have him show up in season 3 so we see Theon in that time period.. but it's just bugging me! I know they won't leave out Theon's ADWD arc, but I still can't help but be eager to be certain.

I'm glad to see Brynden and Edmure listed, and even more glad to see that they're putting the Reeds in now. From what I have seen, it seems based off the episode title that GRRM is writing for season 3 that ASoS is confirmed to be 2 seasons.
